Look, this was not necessarily cheap. For [$] you expect the thing to work better than my internal computer mic. It installs ok, but does not record sound if you are more than a few inches from the mic.Terrible product. DO NOT BUY!!!!!

Bought to work with yahoo messenger for Mac. The driver seems faulty for Yahoo Messenger for Mac. It shows up as an audio device in audio set-up preferences, but won't engage to deliver audio. Also device doesn't remain selected once audio set-up preferences are closed--wont hold as selected device. Works fine on Skype for Mac.

I plugged this into my USB drive and checked it out in the control panel (since the "directions" tell you nothing), and everything seemed to work fine. I then proceeded to try talking to some friends, and found out that it could NOT choose this mic as the default audio device. I'm having a friend come over to try it out for himself, but I'm highly doubting the quality of this microphone.

Like most others here, it installs OK, but can barely pick up a whisp of my voice at 1/4" away, yelling, and recording volume set to max. Wish I could also get get a refund for my time, gas, and missing an important project deadline!

i plugged this into my usb port thinking that it would simply work (because there are lousy instructions if you can even call them instructions) and i put my mic settings all the way up and the thing won't pick up my voice until my mouth is touching the microphone. absolute and complete waste of money. You might as well be buying dirt and trying to speak into a mound of dirt.

I bought this as a replacement for the table-top microphone I had that broke. I thought this microphone, with all it's bells and whistles would do a decent job recording my guitar. WRONG! I had the volume all the way up, the sound hole directly in front of this lousy piece of junk, and it BARELY, I mean BARELY picked up the sound. Barely. THIS IS A TOTAL WASTE OF MONEY. RUN AWAY RIGHT NOW, DO NOT WASTE A SINGLE DOLLAR ON THIS PRODUCT!

Ok when I bought this "product" I was going to see my grandfather. I was planning to record his war stories on audio and put it on a CD, and guess what? It wouldn't pick up jack ****! Thank god I recorded video but, I needed a plain audio track also. I thought maybe there was something wrong with the microphone, so I opened the "booklet that came with it, and it told me nothing. So I tried recording myself later at home on my desktop, and guess what? I doubt you know. Come on guess. Thats right it didn't record anything. But wait if I hold it to the point where its only 1/2 an inch from my freaking mouth, it picks up a little snip of my voice. I'm not a strong singer (yes I was trying to record a song I wrote) but I was pretty **** loud. I use to have a small bull**** microphone that I lost in my last move that I paid like[$]for and it recorded better than this thing would if I had a 1.21 gigawatt amp next to it. Point is I'm out [$] and I threw away the packaging after I got it so I can't return it, so I'm out[$] and I might be able to pawn it off or sell it on [...] for a nickel. (thats shipping included) So in conclusion.DON'T BUY THIS THING EVER IN YOUR ENTIRE LIFE. IF THERE ARE NO OTHER MICROPHONES LEFT ON EARTH TRY RECORDING INTO A WET CLAY POT, YOU'LL HAVE BETTER LUCK TRUST ME!!0/anything on earth

Product functions fine. No problem with connecting and having the computer recognize it. However, audio quality is horrible. Recording sounds tinny and as if being done in a barrel. Recording volume is very low, even though my computer mic settings are at max level.

I recorded my voice and it sounded like a train and tornado when I played it back. I had to bend over to talk and the sound went crazy. I read the other reviews after I used it and found them to be true. Radio Shack usually sells good products but this is the worst product I have bought in the twenty plus years I have been a customer.

Sounds like I'm in a bucket.
By FelisLachesisVerified Reviewer from Columbus, OH on 2/4/2008
Pros:
Compact Design, Easy To Use, Lightweight
Cons:
Blinking blue light, Poor Microphone, Poor Sound Quality
Describe Yourself:
Quality Oriented
Primary use:
Personal
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I tried using this, and returned it in one day. The sound quality, according to my colleagues, sounds like I'm talking in a bucket. I'm very hollow and very metallic.

Also, when it finds an active sound program, the blue light on the base starts blinking. The blinking is incessant, and will not stop until the voice program is turned off. Not bad for short-term use, but long term, this gets very annoying very fast.

The only good things about this microphone is that it's lightweight and it's USB, so you can plug and go. However, when voice quality matters, as well, look elsewhere.

Do not buy this product. The microphone cuts in and out during online conversation and others complain about static. I did a test on my computer recording the sound and the static was almost unbearable. BAD PRODUCT.

Poor Sound Quality

Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Thinking that I was simply going to plug this microphone into a USB port and immediately begin recording a narration for a PowerPoint presentation quickly led to discouragement. My first attempt resulted in unintelligible gibberish. With a deadline at hand, I now have to consider the item defective or start playing with audio codecs, neither of which I have time for.
