This was used once, and then the second time the microphone didn't work.

Why buy a headset if the microphone doesn't work?
I'm taking it back... and buying a different kind of head set.

You just put it on and bam it's working. Windows XP SP3 read it on first try. It's a very good microphone at the right settings it will be crystal clear. The surround sound is decent. So uncomfortable it hurts the tip of your ears. It digs into the space between the stick and the earphones. It just squishes your ears and you can't wear them for more than an hour. I wouldn't recommend this for the ear pain. I would recommend the conventional headset instead of the same brand and for [$] more.

We purchased this for use with Rosetta Stone as the person who used the previous one forgot it was around his neck and walked away...while it was plugged into the usb port.
I was kind of leary about picking this one up at Radio Shack because you just never know what to expect but I was amazed at the quality! I listen to songs on it just because it's so good. The microphone is good as well working great for the audio side of Rosetta Stone. It's only downside is that it pick up on your breath to much.

I use this on ~skype when QRMing 14.275 mhz. ToeJoe [and Junior] really appreciate being able to hear me when Mikey is jamming [as he has done almost continuously for years]. Great product! Obviously NOT made in the States, with all that entails.

This device is wonderful. It's compatable with vista and was easy to install and use and has a long cord. Only con i have with it is the fact that it didn't come with a shirt clip to help keep the cord out of the way. But other then that I love it.

Got this headset from R.S. last week. Price was great. I needed a good headset to use on lowratevoip so i can call my fiance in Africa. Installation was easy, its plug and play.
I had a problem using it in the beginning. After talking for about 10 minutes, it will automaticly mute on me, i tried to unmute it but nothing happened. Then i will have to unplug it and call back. I took it back to R.S. and exchanged it. So i googled the problem online and found a skype forum where someone was having the same problem and the person gave instruction of how to turn off the AGC control after i did that i didn't have any more of that muting problem. I talk for 2 hour non stop with no problem and the sound is very sharp and clear.

Fixing the automatic mute problem
Steps to set AGC inactive:

1. Connect the headset to a USB port on the computer.
2. In Windows open Start and Control Panel.
3. Select Sounds, Speech and Audio Devices.
4. Select Sounds and Audio Devices.
5. Select the Voice tab.
6. Under Voice Recording, click on Volume or Voice Capture.
7. In the Options menu, select Advanced Controls.
8. Click the Advanced button.
9. Deselect the AGC option and close the Control Panel windows.

Hope this helps. Cuz it did for me and i love my new gigaware headset.

I bought the product to use with Skype and you just plug it in to the computer and go. The sound quality is great, as all my friends said I sound clear and understandable... better than the cell phone.
However, the headset rests on your ears. The part that wraps around your head is not adjustable and too large for me. After wearing it for 15 minutes my ears really ache, so I'm returning it.

I dunno why some people don't like this headset, I have had it for about 6 months and I bet it up pretty bad, it holds up to my torture test :).

The mic is VERY good but if you want something to play music this one does fall a bit short, for Voice chat this is a excellent buy, the mic is as good as my Plantronics and thats saying alot.
