Comments about Gigaware Gigaware Wired Multimedia USB Keyboard:

If you end up with a bunk keyboard then just bring it back and exchange it for a working keyboard. [...] While it is true that not everything is compatible with every computer, that doesn't mean you can knock it because of a problem with your system

Comments about Gigaware Gigaware Wired Multimedia USB Keyboard:

seems to be a decent cheap keyboard - no problems.

types fine - decent key feel (wish it was more clicky - but no one seems to make those any more).

I suspect a fair number of other's problems have been from the drivers.

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND AGAINST INSTALLING DRIVERS FOR CHEAP PERIPHERALS - just use the default Windows drivers.

if you're looking for programmable keys / etc - this probably isn't your best choice. I'd spend the money for Logitech or Microsoft if that's what you need.

Comments about Gigaware Gigaware Wired Multimedia USB Keyboard:

For its price is an OK keyboard. I have it connected via PS/2 on a test box where I run Windows 2000, Windows XP and Mandriva Linux. It worked out of the box on all three OS's.

Multimedia buttons are not programmable on Windows, you have to use their default actions. This is not rare for low-cost keyboards. The buttons do perform their default actions on both Windows 2000 and XP. The software on the CD-ROM is only for Windows 98, which won't recognize the multimedia buttons without the driver.

Only 2 things keep me from using this keyboard for my main PC. 1 - No USB ports for mouse and similar periferals, and 2 - It's ugly.

Comments about Gigaware Gigaware Wired Multimedia USB Keyboard:

This is by far the worst keyboard I have ever stumbled upon. I bought it for [$] and it lasted for 3 days--- 3 freaking days, I tell you. I got enough money to buy the keyboard from birthday money, so I bought it.I put the CD in and it basically told me, "Haha, you're screwed! You just bought a junk keyboard!" when it said, "Sorry! Doesn't work with you computer."I am bringing this back to Radio Shack and demanding a better keyboard, because this thing is absolute horrid junk. It just decided to stop working today and I intend to get my money back, and if they don't give me my money back, I'm suing them for selling me a product that just takes my money and doesn't work. The only question I have left to ask is, 'Why does Radio Shack even SELL this keyboard anymore?!'

Comments about Gigaware Gigaware Wired Multimedia USB Keyboard:

well i have windows xp home, my pc doesnt ahve a ps/2 connections, so i need to connect via usb...i can not connect this keyboard directly.
i had to use the ps2 adapter and then use a ps2 to usb adapter to connect to my pc to make this work..
very mind boggling...

so let me make this easier to understand
usb keyboard--->usb to ps2 adapter--->ps2 to usb--> to computer.

unable to connect directly...

p.s. this thing so far is better than the Micro Innovations keyboard.

It needs to come with the drivers. What is the point of having a multimedia keyboard with programmable buttons that you cannot program.

Comments about Gigaware Gigaware Wired Multimedia USB Keyboard:

This thing is great! In fact, I have proof to show you. There are only two things I think can be better with this keyboard. One, the wires are a little anooying, but I can live with that. Two, its kind of hard to clean, but I don't worry much about that. And all the advantages you get, plus a low price! It's like keyboard heaven!

Supposedly has programmable hot keys, but there are no instructions for how to activate them. Perhaps I'll figure it out by trial and error. for now it is no better than my old keyboard !!
