Great Product For It's Price
By ScottVerified Reviewer from Conway, SC on 7/17/2008
Pros:
Easy To Set Up, Highly Compatible
Cons:
Bulky
Best Uses:
Home Networks, Small Offices
Describe Yourself:
High bandwidth user
Primary use:
Personal
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I recommend this to all home users wanting to get more out of their wireless access point or wireless router.

Pros:
Extends range, my original WAP54G antennas were repeating a signal at roughly ~1% (Signal: -94, Noise: -95). After installing the new antennas I got ~8% (Signal: -87, Noise: -97). If the AP I was repeating had the same antennas, and was relocated, I'd expect another similar increase (if not more after relocation, I don't know who's AP it is).

I bought them from my local Radio Shack for 8 bucks and some change.

Cons:
They don't seem to be of the greatest quality, but for the price you'd expect that. I have not broken any yet and do not expect to.

They are bulky and could be easily damaged because of the length. They are over double the length of my original WAP54G antennas. Make sure your AP and antennas are secure.

My neighbor shares my wifi but he kept getting dropped because of the stucco walls of our homes. I put these antennas on the linksys router then checked the signal on his PC...Presto ! A dramatic improvement. His PC describes the signal as "Very Good" with 4 bars whereas it was previously "Poor" with 1-2 bars. Throughput has gone up too. A great value. Highly Recommended.

I have the wireless router in my office and I wanted to get that signal in my RV about 150 yard away. I had line of sight, but the signal would get lost about half way. I flashed dd-wrt on my WRT54G v6, turned up the transmit power slightly, and added these antennas. I now get a strong, usable signal- even going through one wall in the office, and one wall in my RV. These antennas gave me the little extra UMPH to get the signal over 150 yards through a couple walls. And for only [$], GREAT PRODUCT!

I was thinking of buying a range extender but I found these while online. Enhanced my range by at least 30%, I can now go out on my porch and the router is in the basement behind some thick walls. Absolutely not the best environment but that is where I can put it so these helped greatly

I'm using this on a Linksys WRT54GL router that is running DD-WRT firmware. This allows me to dial up the wireless power. with the higher gain, it's like increasing the transmit power of the remote devices, balancing the transmit and receive better.

I switched from Netgear to Linksys router and was surprised to get a 20% improvement. The new antenna improved reception and bandwidth on top of that. I'm very pleased with this product.

Increased the reception for both our laptops in a concrete home. Also added some speed for the system in terms of getting printing going from our wireless print router. (You can't attach these to that print router, but the transmission for documents to print have sped up.)

This has greatly increased the range on my linksys g router. I used to not be able to leave my house more than 20 feet. I can now take my lap out to my building which is a good 100-120ft away and still get signal.

Very pleased with ...
By Thomas B from Illinois on 6/20/2007

Very pleased with product. I hooked up to a WRT54GS and noticed improvement on signal levels throughout the house. They were not bad to begin with, but good to see maximum signal strength. May even try outdoors now that summer is here.

For this price you can't go wrong. I replaced the tiney antennas on my WAP54G access point, and instantly got another 5-10Db gain in signal on a laptop downstairs. Simple Setup, good performance, great price!
