The DSL filter assembly on the back of the faceplate does not fit in a standard single gang plastic electrical box. The filter on the back is approx 1/8" too wide. I was able to install it because I mounted the box to a stud wall in my basement, and I was able to force the filter into the electrical box. Had there been drywall around the box, I doubt I would have been able to use this DSL filter.
I was able to get it to mount to a "Wiremold" on-wall PVC outlet box. You can get one that's 1 inch thick. I got a metal box first, but like the other comments said, it the back of this wall plate doesn't fit with many outlet boxes.
The tricky part was getting it installed. Now that it's in, it does what it's supposed to. I installed one in the kitchen where I had a wall mounted phone.
Great concept, but 3/8" too wide for a standard one gang mud ring. Only buy it if you have additional wall thickness that can be removed, you're mounting it over an access hole you just made in the wall, or if you want to grind out the ring sides. Hopefully [...] will revise the design so the PCB is correctly sized on their next order. I would've given it five stars had it fit a standard box ring.
does NOT work in place of a regular wall jack. save your money!
Previous review stated the filter was same width as metal elec. box. That's true. Had to notch out the electrical box with a dremel metal cutting wheel to get it to fit. Also did not work when phone wires were connected to the filter. Left the wires where they were and attached to jumper wires to the filter, then it worked.
Doesn't fit in a standard data ring or a steel electrical box
