[...] Used it for 30 minutes and returned. Very disappointed. Directions are terrible. Route display is awful and confusing. I have had several other cheaper GPS units. This Sony unit does not come close to the other cheaper GPS units I have. Avoid this product.

Describe Yourself:

Primary use:

Really disappointed by SONY, they drop the ball on this one.
When you are putting in an address, you need to write the COMPLETE name of the city, state, and street, then it takes more than a few seconds to calculate EACH of them.
The suction cup for the base is a challenge to install properly to avoid vibrations.
Sometimes the split display shows a useful detailed view of the highway on the left side. Most of the time this view on the left is a about the same as what you see on the right side.
When you don't have a route planned, the GPS does not tracks you into view.

Not bad, but not great either.

Let's face it - all GPS have their short comings. This one's: only 10 Via's per route, save a route as favorite - only 4, save a route and recall is tricky, screen not bright enough for use in sun. What is does do nicely: split screen with directions in complicated road situations, warning of turns and using street name to identify, good response to touch screen command inputs. Not my favorite GPS but one I grab when going on long trips. Recommend with qualifiers - need experience with other GPS's to get best use out of.

Too many characters had to be entered before a suggested destination would appear. It probably could have been fixed with an upgrade of some sort, but I didn't wait to find out. 20 minutes after I purchased - I exchanged it for the Garmin Nuvi 260w. I should have played with the Sony to find out what would happen if you did not know the correct spelling of the destination.

This is awesome!

Display is big and brilliant.

Also, this unit could be attached anywhere, which is great as my Grand Caravan has the windshield far away from the sheet.

I was told by the salesman that this was the best new Mercedez Benz in navigation systems on the market. He was so wrong!! It could not locate a city that is about 15 mins. from my house. It got stuck on the previous destination. I refused to reset it, as I only used it twice and am taking it back for a refund. Maybe this product needed to be perfected before putting it out on the market. THIS PRODUCT IS TOO NEW TO RECOMMEND IT TO ANYONE!! WASTE OF MONEY!!

I travel a lot so a system that will tell me how to get from Atlanta to Chicago will be usefull.
I tried the Sony-U73T and right from the start i started to get a bad expireance with it .It wont give you an address from Atlanta to Chicago because it will ust say address not found u have to reset all the time.Very complicated system. Allthough I lke that it will tell you how fast your going and it will notify ou if you need to be on the third lane or you will end up exiting at the wrong exit.
