I am a college student who is commuting to school and I needed to have a GPS to get me from work to school and anywhere else that I needed to go. I also haved to travel to events that are all over the state for work. Buying a wall charger is a good idea if you will use it everyday. (GPS only comes with a car charger)Look for SALES and DEALS!! Again I am a college student who has a budget. [...]

Cons:

This GPS system almost always instucts you to take the longest route possible even when settings are set to fastest route. It does eventually get you there but, why take the long way there.

If you do buy this product, save all of the packing, if you have to take it back, they will not refund your money, if it is not put back in the box. Also the traffic card is not worth the money,I have tried it and it stays off more than it stays on. I would return the unit but I will loose the cost of the map and traffic card because I did not keep the package, because it had to be cut up just to get the cards out.
I tried Radio Shack for the first time, but it will be the last, I will go to other retailers.

This is a very satisfying GPS. Its my first & I can't believe my daughter had to talk me into wanting it for Father's Day. After less than a week I think its the best F-day gift ever! Most features are accessed intuitively enough that reading the brief Quick Start Guide and spending 10-20 min of sitting and "playing" with the controls, and - taking it out for a drive should get the average user on track.
I believe that for a lot of tech devices (with unfamiliar controls & features) its best to fool around with it and make some mistakes before attempting to use a detailed instruction manual. I had decided to access the pdf copy of the manual if necessary, but haven't had to go there yet!

I had to navigate an area in downtown Houston with many 1-way streets and it never directed me in the wrong direction.

I also checked out the poi's in familiar locales & found that although the list wasn't always "complete"- it did call attention to most of the good eating places and places to visit with which I was familiar - even in some smaller cities in other states.

This GPS is an excellent value.

Good but not great.

Cons:
Acquires Satellites Slowly, Inaccurate, Short Battery Life
Best Uses:
Rural Navigation
Describe Yourself:
Bad With Directions, Technically Challenged
Primary use:
Personal
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I got this for a birthday gift and exchanged it for a better one.
The Good: I like how there are so many roads labeled on the screen, even small neighborhood streets. It also gives you an up-close view of which lane to be in when takin exits (although this feature does not always work)

The bad: It takes forever to acquire a satalite signal. One time it didnt even show up until almost 30 min. into my trip! Good thing I had a printed map for backup. The recalculation is slow. the GPS didn't even realize I had taken a wrong turn until too late. I got very lost.
Not good for urban areas when roads come up very quickly.

It can be improved. I would hold out on buying this until the bugs are tweaked and a new version comes out.
