Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
Just because it's not a color screen, some would look down on this GPS, but that is short-sighted. The large screen has good contrast; easy to read. The only short-coming is the 8MB of memory. I'd like to load the more detailed maps, but I can still get seven or eight Illinois counties in there. This includes the Mapsource POI database with restaurants, etc.
