To get the best use of your traffic update do the following: when you're viewing the map push the options button, then the traffic button, then the options button again, then the TMC settings. From here make sure you have the tuning set to automatic and the route recalculation set to automatic. Also and this is important, have the charger plugged in, this somehow uses the car as an antenna and lets you recieve the traffic signal, you otherwise might not recieve the signal.

we just came back from Kentucky. Traffic was terrible, a wreck every mileor two because of the weather. The Traffic told us all that was happening. No more guess work on what is happening on the interstate. I loved it. My husband would NEVER stop and ask for direction, now we never get lost. We always would before, I was, but he always knew where we were...LOL

the traffic card is well worth it if you drive on major highways all the time. it can keep you from getting stuck in traffic, which saves you gas. it lets you know well ahead of time if there is a traffic incident and it reroutes you around the traffic mess. i use mine every day and check the traffic right before i get on any major highways. it has saved me from many traffic jams. so i think the traffic card is worth it. if you buy any other gps unit you have to pay a monthly fee for the traffic service no matter what gps you buy so i think it is cheaper to buy a one time traffic card and then your done with it. and if the navigon breaks down then you have still spent less than you would have if you bought another gps that you have to pay a monthly fee. i think the monthly traffic fees can run anywhere from [$] or more for other units. so to me it is worth it not getting stuck in traffic.

Lifetime traffic is baloney

A month or less

Lifetime traffic lasts only as long as you own unit. However, the battery in the unit can not be replaced. So even if you get another Navigon you have to buy Traffic all over again. Only seems worth it if you were able to get it Black Friday with traffic included.
