If anyone goes anywhere even in the US there are more and more luggage restraints, this works great to make sure you don't pay those overage charges and are surprised at the ticket counter!
If I have a friend going on a trip, it is a wonderful Vacation gift!
There are new weight requirements for luggage, and when you are bringing home more, it is important to know whether your luggage is overweight - sometimes you can transfer something to another suitcase and not pay overweight charges. Either way, it is good for planning. It is better than trying to balance your suitcase on bathroom scales and not know if you are getting the right weight. The challenge is that the handle is small and makes it hard to lift a suitcase- but that can be solved by stringing the handle of the scale on a broomstick and putting one end on a (padded) cabinet and holding the other end in your hand.
