I bought 6 packs, for my parents and myself and all has worked as package indicates. Never had jamming problems! The only worry I have now is will the airline lose the luggage.
Based on previous reviews, this appears to be another case of only people experiencing issues taking time to report negatively...or there was a bad batch of locks which I luckily avoided. I have an expensive TSA lock [$] that is lighter, has better dials, and has the resettable green/red tamper indicator which tells me if the TSA or someone used the master key to open the lock. These cheap Travelpro locks *do not* have the tamper indicator, but feature the same thin gauge U-shaped shackle for basic deterrent protection. My only real complaint is they are heavier than they need to be considering the shackle isn't very thick.Setting the combo and locking/unlocking are easy if you read and properly follow the instructions, and aren't dealing with a defective lock. The 1st lock jambed when I tried to set the combination number[...]. It is easy to set and reset the combination number once I had some practice. The lock is heavy guage, stronger, larger, and with more dials than some locks that cost more. It is reassuring to know that Safe Skies lifetime warranty clearly states that they will replace the lock if TSA clips or damages it during travel. I am willing to give a 2nd evaluation after I return from travel.
I bought two of these and not only are they impossible to set, they are even harder to reset...on my very fist use, they got jammed and I was never able to set it...not worth it at all
We bought these as an impulse buy because we were traveling and actually needed locks. Wish we had that moment back. May as well lock your suitcase with a Funyon. The first lock never even would fit inside its housing and was worth no more than an ugly paper weight. Out of the 4 locks we bought, 1 worked for the trip we took and that will now be set aside as well. Not worth your time...Trust me.
My Dad bought 4 and found that they were nearly impossible to unlock once locked. The mechanisms froze up. They are not at all advisable for travel where someone might have to unlock a piece rapidly or under a stressful situation (e.g. change of hand baggage regulations). They are also poorly designed for those with moderately large fingers or poor dexterity or older people whose hands shake. Not worth the price spent.
