I bought this thing 08/08/08. Took it home and turned it on and noticed that one pixel was bad --- turned on green permanently. I would not purchase on again.
A frame this expensive shouldn't make your photographs look so cheap. The display has FAR too much contrast.
Also, I am struggling to figure out how to manage the default slide show order. We wanted to give it as a gift to my in-laws, loaded with photos of their 50th anniversary celebration. It's playing the party backwards. The directions do not tell you how to change this.
Lastly, it seems like little of the memory is available to photos. On the box, they say it has 16 MB. With its size limit of 640 x 220, it should hold about 100 shots. But, you can copy only 14 images to its memory, a limit not listed on the box. So, you end up purchasing memory cards to get more.
It's a decent frame, good size, but the images are a bit grainy and most of them don't fill the screen.
I see why it does not give image resolution on the box as it is very poor! Pictures are blurry and grainy. Do not think you are getting a bigger picture frame with the misleading 9" statement on box! Only displays pictures as 4x6" with black bars down each side of picture. Very misleading. I will be returning it for a better quality frame.
this is the best thing u could ever get
I was pleased enough to purchase two of these photo frames for my children after trying it out for myself.
I don't maintain a web site, consequently, this is an outstanding way for me to share my photography with my family. My children live half way around the world, and when I visit, I leave behind a new set of photos on a memory stick. My way of sharing my memories and our times together. This frame is inexpensive, reliable, and is all that I want in a slide show. The nine inch display takes up just the right amount of space on a side table, without being overbearing.
The images are clearer, brighter and colors are well saturated. I prefer watching the imagery on this unit over the image on my high end computer. The frame doesn't offer video clips, but I prefer only slides.
The only drawback is that I have to leave a memory stick in the unit. This is less of a problem with the lower prices one now pays for flash memory.
I would and have recommended this product to friends without reservation.
Bought it for a valentines day gift, and two months later the screen doesnt work but yet it power is on. What a waste of money
The frame is a good money\product investment, it's nice looking and comfortble to install and use, it comes with a remote that help use the one-by-one view of the pictures.
No settings for slideshow mode. Only holds 14 photos without disc. Picture quality not great.
I can't believe how small the pictures appear and the blurry resolution. Why do you both to sell the 9inch model if you only see 4-6 inches. Very disappointed. No one should be ripped off like this. Radio shack should improve the product, reduce the price and replace all previously sold. [...]
Overall, this product is attractive and seems to be well-made, and is easy to use. But I have one problem with it that to me is a huge one.
The photos do not come up in the same sequence as they are on the memory stick, but as randomly as cards would be in a shuffled deck. (beach scenes, weddings, sporting events, etc., are all intermingled.)
Interesting that two of the other reviewers wished there was a "random" feature!
I am a professional photographer, i wanted a way to display multiple photos in limited space.
This item is very low resolution. Pay the more money for the better product.
This was really easy to use and fun, but my pics look so much better in my camera and when printed that I couldn't keep this. I would have been happy if it only cost [$]
The frame only holds 14 pictures in it's internal memory where as other frames hold thousands. But the biggest disappointment was that the pictures don't fill the screen. Why did I buy a 9" frame when the pictures show in 4" x 6" size with black bars on the sides? I'm returning mine to the store!
It is alright but bought for my son and he put the SD card in it and it has no button to eject it. He had to use tweezers to get the card back out of it. It would be nicer if you could down load the pictures from the computer straight to the picture frame. The Smartparts picture frame is cheaper and you can download with card or directly from your computer and It has been tested and shows to be the best one out there. I am sure they may take it back. I think you can get better options with the Smartspart Digital Photo frame
I would have hoped to find the actual screen resolution in pixels listed in the tech specs, but no such luck. I wanted to resample my JPGs to match exactly the screen res of the frame, but now I'm stuck with experimentation. My tests show that the frame will scale-down or scale-up any image. 800x450 and 640x360 seem to look about the best. 480x270 is too small and will be blurry when scaled-up by the frame. Anything at 1024x576 and lower clears-up line gradient downsampling errors produced by the frame. Beyond all this, be prepared to see the "window screen" effect found on most inexpensive LCDs. I suppose it's a good unit for your first digital frame. I'll be shopping after-Christmas sales for other models with better resolution and sharper displays.

When I turn the power on, it immediately shows the slideshows! No programming required! I can, however, browse to any picture I like using the thumbnails feature, and start the slideshow there. On power off, then power back on, it resumes where it left off! I can vary the time duration from 5, 10, 30 seconds! The only thing missing is a random slideshow feature!
Very nice frame, and great resolution compared to a lot of other frames out there. The only downside is there are very few features in the menus. All you can set is the brightness, and slideshow time. It would've been nice to have a random setting. Also missing is a setting to fill the screen with the picture. As it is, most pictures show up with bars on both sides. Not sure why that feature wasn't included.
