Battery Life, Long Lag Time

I use this on trips and family gatherings and the photo's and video's have been quite clear. Most of the time I just leave it on Auto and the photo comes out fine. If I feel like tinkering, there are tons of ways to adjust the camera. I used the "fireworks" option in scene mode recently and for the first time in my life got some really good firework photos. If you take a steady picture, you'll be amazed at how clear the image stays when you enlarge the saved photo later. I took a shot of my son and was able to read every title of our DVD collection on the shelf behind him!
I agree with everyone about the batteries, but I got some white fully charged/rechargeable batteries from Radio Shack and can go days at a time without needing to change batteries.

when I first got this camera I thought it didn't last long taking pictures, but then I got a battery charger and rechargable batteries and now I enjoy taking pictures of my children and family. With the rechargable batteries I can take lots of pictures for as long as I want :) I just downloaded some of my pictures and they look great.

When my S73 was working properly, I was pleased with its photo and video quality. It was nothing spectacular; but you're going to run into a whole bunch of disappointment, if you're expecting spectacular results from a $90 camera. Unfortunately, my S73 would shut itself down, sometimes leaving the lens extended and exposed. Sometimes it would shut itself down due to "battery low." Those times, it would actually display "battery low" and beep a few times and then shut itself off. The other times, there was no warning at all. I know very well that the batteries could not possibly have been drained, because it happened after mere minutes of operation. I did change the batteries, anyway, to no avail. Other than those flaws, this camera was awesome, factoring the price. I decided to return it to the store rather than taking it up with the manufacturer; because Samsung would have offered to repair or replace it (ideally), neither of which I wanted. I wanted an entirely different camera from an entirely different manufacturer, after an experience like that.

I too thought the battery problem was a big issue but as weird as it sounds, it's not. Somehow the batteries the came with the camera seemed like they were not 100%. The reason being is because I bought some same duracel batteries after it died and it lasted much longer than those that came. The price is very good.., A perfect gift or asset or the family...
