I was expecting at least a camcorder about the size of any other one, but this one is very small. The size of it isn't all. It doesn't record well inside because its too dark. It has an LED light that doesnt illuminate all the much at all. I didn't like that camcorder at all and I am returning it.

This camera SUCKS
By lhamil64Verified Reviewer from United States on 6/30/2008
Cons:
Flimsy Construction, Low-Quality Recordings, Poor Battery Life, Poor Sound, Uncomfortable
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

This camera really sucks. I received it as a gift and when i turned it on and took a video, it looked HORRIBLE on the computer. The quality is very grainy and works bad in low lighting. I have an 5.0 HP digital camera that works better for recording video with this.
Also, you can only zoom when taking pictures and even then the zoom doesn't work well at all. Do not buy this camera at all, go for a better quality and slightly more expensive camcorder or digital camera.

This product starts out fine but after 1-2 weeks of use it starts to turn itself off or it won't turn on at all.
You should NOT buy the product. Don't be so cheap. Spend the extra money and buy a better one because you deserve a better product.

I have have to disagree with those here who say "What do you want for the $" I don't know what they paid for it, but I bought 2,1 for each of my kids and spent 2 bills. I could have purchased 2 cameras that at least worked indoors for that.
Plus the $ a day for batteries would be bearable if I didn't have to turn on every light in the house to get an image.

This camera's just fine for the price. I've shot some minimal video on it at day and at night (well-lit!) and taken mostly stills, of whose quality is fine for snapshots. You can adjust the image size from the default if you want slightly higher resolution pictures. You can also adjust the exposure a bit but this isn't so sensitive. You people who bought a [$] vid/still camera and expected more than what this offers are crazy! I think this camera is great for stills and ok for short clips, especially factoring the price of [$]. YES it does not adjust to poor lighting well, but then again, most automatic shutter cameras do not in this price range. I don't expect it to given the price, weight, and size of the product. If you want a professional camera or even a mid-grade consumer model this is not the camera for you, and you should save some more $ and buy accordingly. This is a point and shoot camera, period, and just fine for that purpose.

As you can see i have only own this camera for a short time and when i first got it for christmas a few months ago i was excitided... until i turned it on. i noticed rite away that this camera was GARBADGE for lack of me being able to say the word i wanted [*] all i wanted it for was to record some skateboarding and some breakdancing and the battery life would not let me get a session in for either and when i treid to record a breakdance battle it would not last one set( there is three and the sets are 15 seconds and longer). i had to also replace this camera twice because something on it stoped working first it was the screen the second time it was the play back feature it just would not show pictures or videos just recorded or recorded a while back. what i recomend to do if you want a camera is dont go cheap quality is gona cost you and if you buy this than you will know you wasted your time, money and maybe even a few days of your life recording(if your camera last this long). all in all worst piece of equitment ever.

Wow, were should I start. Well, I got this gift for my 12 birthday and I guess it's decent. I mean It feeds on batteries !!! I had to buy at least 3 packs of batteries jus to use it for one day ! It's sound quality is ok but it's realyy not the best. I actually wanted to use it for short video clips, but from my veiw it's only good for recordind outside :( . I've decided to save to get a new camcorder, since this one isn't the best. But, I probably would'nt recommend it to a friend just for the fact it has poor image in recording :(

Many people are saying the camera isn't good. Well I agree to some degree. I honestly think it works really well for what i use it for. I record step files for DDR and stepmania. You'd be suprised at how well it captures the arrows. I also was really suprised when i took it on vacation and recorded a small video for my sister who couldn't come with us. It did an amazing job recording the beach. I honestly think this camera is pretty decent. Inside recordings don't work well...especially in the dark, but if it is light, its decent. If you are into recording things such as DDR, then i would recommend it because it does work for that and picks up the sound pretty well, but if your thing is recording inside at night, i wouldn't recommend it.

I bought my 11 year old daughter this for Christmas. Obviously it was cheap and "I Thought" it would at leat have have some basic camcorder like use, but what a fool I am. This unit EATS batteries and is essentially a piece of junk. It is excellent for those poor quality pictures we have come to expect of Bigfoot or of UFOs.

Bought it on sale, wanted something to film short movies with friends, I thought this device would come in handy. It's very small and easy to carry around, and the controls are very simple to navigate. The video quality is very poor, it was obviously not made to be compatible in any kind of darkness. The picture quality is ok. There are a lot of rules about being careful as to not erase the files on it, don't do this or your data will be erased, don't do that or your data will be erased, etc. It drains the battery life ridiculously fast, I recommend buying rechargable AAA batteries for this. Otherwise a decent camcorder for its price.

Picked up this SAKAR DIGITAL CAMCODER at the Black Friday Sale today. Initial out-of-the- box experience was GOOD. Well packaged with two required cables, strap and a semi-readable illustrated manual (all in ENGLISH). You DO NEED 3-AA batteries (rechargeable NiMH type recommended, I used ALKALINES) AND requires YOU supply a SD Memory card (I used a no-name 1GB-size card) -the camera itself has little VOLATILE storage, your images will be DELETED after power-off if no SD memory card is found. You also must FORMAT this SD card in the CAMERA, a setup menu option covers this (see PAGE 10 of the manual). The camera was immediately recognized as a MASS-STORAGE DEVICE on two XP computer system's when the included USB connector was attached (top of camera -under rubber flap)) and the camera turned ON.

I spent some time today taking a series of test pictures and videos, summarized here: Good low-level light picture performance indoors (less noise in this CMOS image sensor than I expected at this low cost). Good outdoor (sun) pictures with good exposure and color faithfulness (at the default 2048x1536, auto exposure and white balance settings). Some softness on left-side of my images (cheap plastic lens, although sharpness can be adjusted in SETUP), they likely could blow-up to 8x10 prints nicely. Good flash performance for close use and fast recharge time. Lots of setup menus and image settings to play with, and you will need to experiment with these at some point to get the most from this little gem.

Videos are 320x240 fixed-size (sub-VGA)at a low (unknown) frame-rate. Don't expect much more than choppy and blurred videos when fast moving scenes or lighting situations are present. Video'ing funerals is about its speed (my running dog was too fast).

I did not install or play with the included software -so no comment.

BOTTOM LINE: Good price/performance and decent construction fit and finish. Good control placement and easy setup menus. Good PICTURE CAMERA for youngsters, teenagers, you-tubers, grandma, ladies purses, man's tool-box. VIDEO CAMERA -casual/fun use kid quality nothing more. For better videos, look at the new line of small HD digital camcorders priced not much more than this. hth.
