This tripod is not nearly sturdy enough to hold a 3.3lb camera as advertised. The joints just below the swivel base do not have enough friction to keep a larger camera with a zoom lens from tilting forward and slumping down. A locking mechanism on this joint would help a lot. Would work great for a hand held or compact camera, but needs to seriously beef up to handle a large SLR.

This tripod works well for smaller cameras. According to the package, the weight limit is 1.5kg or 3.3 pounds. If you have a bigger camera (or a SLR with a larger lens), then buy a bigger Joby Gorillapod instead.

You can put this on a doorway, lamp post, bedpost, or whatever. It really is great.
