I've owned this very card reader for about 6 months now. I use it almost every single day.
It's an easier and faster way to get my pictures from my camera to my computer. The software that came with my digital camera is just so time consuming, you have to wait on all the pictures to upload to your computer, and you always have to tell it whether or not you want to keep the pictures on your camera or delete them...and lets not forget that you also have to remember where you last put the cord to your camera...
so, i keep this card reader in a pocket on my camera case, so it's always with me. And it reads the images exactly like a thumb drive would, so i can choose to use one picture, or all. I especially like that i can just stick it in my usb drive and have an image editor open an image directly from the card reader, without having to go through the hassle of uploading a bundle of images to the computer first.
the ONLY issue i have with this product is that it isnt very sturdy. the tip of it wiggles a little bit, and the sd card has a habit of wiggling out of place if you keep it in there when you store it. but those are literally the ONLY issues i have with it.
The suggested download, "cardreaderA.exe", would not install on my Windows 98 computer in spite of the instructions that claimed it would. No driver download was necessary for XP.
Purchased because camera fails to communicate with P.C. Installed card in reader, inserted reader into USB port. Computer requested format, format started and the failed. Now card is unreadable by any device. THANKS RADIO SHACK FOR SCREWING UP MY SD CARD ! Returned, was eventually able with due perseverance to reformat the SD card.
I just bought one because my camera cable ceased to function. On Windows XP, it was immediately recognized and installed as drive G in my case. I was able to transfer images back and forth between SD card and computer with no problems. I do recommend it.

Ok, I had the previous post, which I want to amend. Anyway, the problem I had was that the SD card doesn't seat properly in the card reader. If you push it too far in, it won't work. My solution was to first plug in the card reader, THEN ever so slowly start pushing the SD card into the reader (while watching the arrow on the monitor). When the arrow changes, STOP pushing the card it. The changed arrow indicates it is seated properly and the pictures and what-not will download (finally).

A family member bought this after the cable for his digital camera went missing. I tried and tried, but could not get it to work. The light came on. It even appeared that a drive letter was assigned. But it would not read the files on the SD card that was inserted. Unfortunately, we are just about the head to a different store to buy a different product. Waste of[$] plus tax. Too bad the receipt was thrown away.

When it works, it works great. However, I've been through several of these and half of them I've had to return for a replacement because they were dead. They also don't have a long shelf life. Luckily, they are inexpensive.

I used this to transfer the flower/fauna photos I take when I travel. It is small, convenient, has an adapter cord so that all my pheripherals fit in the usb ports I have. (otherwise this is kind of wide and would prevent one of my ports from use). The only fault I found was that since I took nearly three thousand photos, I broke the top of the device, which did not prevent it working well, and I opened and shut this baby many times during the download of all those photos.
