The iron came with no instructions. After installing the batteries and turning the slider switch on, I waited 5 - 10 minutes, and the tip was still cool. I tried holding down the button for the light. The tip did heat up quickly, but I found it very difficult to hold down the button while using the iron to solder. When I push the button in, I end up sliding the on/off slider switch back off. I would not recommend this to anyone.
Great Iron works with two different settings for temperature control. Works great in remote locations where you have no power.
don't waste your money. this unit won't get hot enough to melt solder, let alone provide adequate flow onto your work.
