used three times and the tip broke. cool tool but way too spendy to keep replacing the tip
The Tip is too fragile, is easily broken with a little too much pressure.
Tip is also too large for smaller jobs. You need both ends touching object to be soldered and it is impossible to do.
Good concept, just need to tweak the product a little more.
included tip is useless, they should be ashamed to include such a poor quality tip on a good tool !!!

I agree with others experience. Finally decided on the 'Cold Heat' soldering tool. Only occasional, small jobs; 22 Gauge wire, low-voltage contacts, etc. Mostly use Solderless splices. Tried this after replacing all batteries 1-time. If your batteries are a little weak, heating will not be adequate.Bottom Line. Less than a dozen minor solder joints and the [$] tip broke. Going to return[$]tool to Radio Shack. [...]makes one of these for about $10-15 more.

very weak tip and high replacement cost, going to try different type of tip
This tip is virtually useless for use. very fragile, breaks with minimal pressure, invest in the wedge tip and the conical tip, doubles the price of the ColdHeat soldering tool but well worth it for the time and effort they'll save.
