I use this magnifier to inspect electronic circuit spot welds, paint chips, and anything I need to get close up to. It requires getting within a half inch of what you are viewing, and the closer your eye is, the better the field of view. I have even taken some nice photos through it using zoom. It words perfect for my needs.

I bought this magnifier because I need to examine some very small images on 8-mm film. I've been using a simple magnifying lens that was given to me as a freebie at a trade show, and I wanted something stronger and sturdier. The Radio Shack product is sturdy, but the lenses themselves are quite poor. They have so much fisheye distortion that they're barely usable for any purpose except as a toy. My old, free magnifying lens actually has a much superior image.

Simply an outstanding buy. I have paid 3 times as much for magnifiers I like less. Highly recommended.
