Do not listen to the so called professional from kentucky. A reading of zero ohms on a continuity check means that the wrist strap is in good working order. I have taken the a+ exam and have read this out of a text book and have had instructors tell me the same. You do not want continuity in a wrist starp or static electricity would be able to go through the wrist strap and fry your component.
Comments about RadioShack Anti-Static Wrist Strap with Cord:
The product absolutely does not work - or at least mine would not. To test the product, we checked the continuity on the contact points on the strap and there was no contunity! We examined the braclet to find there was a break due to poor assembley and/or parts. There was a physical break in the line. Pretty scary considering professionals like myself use this to protect expensive PCB and electronic components from shorting out. Buyer beware.
