Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
For checking appliances power use - this meter is perfect. I use it to show customers that their frig or flat screen TV uses too much power (replace frig/ get small TV for every day use). For renewable energy the first step is to reduce power consumption. If you get a six foot appliance cord (air conditioner ext. cord) to plug this into then you won't have to look at it from behind the frig in the wall socket. My friends want to borrow it and I know they won't return it. In todays world where electricity costs more this product is worth more.
