No, I would not recommend this to a friend
I use 20 of these connected in parallel connected to a 9volt rechargeable battery which is attached to solar panels to use a small lantern, very little outputted ligth. i planned on using 8-10leds but had to bump it up to 20

I bought 4 of these, three green, one red. Not one of these would light up on 12 VDC!
