Though a decent quality item, a simple web search will reveal a ton of other places that sell them for a fraction of this price. Shame on RS!!, they obviously recognize these are popular because lots of people are playing audio on their phones nowadays and have chosen to gouge their customers!

I bought two 2.5 to 3.5 adapters to play music off of my LG Chocolate 8550. Both adapters only output right channel audio. I would not recommend this product as I have used three of them now (borrowed a friend's also) and none have worked properly.

Cons:
No Microphone

Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Tried several other adapters, all of them gave mono sound (same signal in both ears). This is the only one that we found that works with the Samsung Juke to give stereo sound. The only (minor) drawback is that there is no microphone, so you have to disconnect the headphones to make or receive a call.

I bought a LG Voyager phone with the MP3 player built into it. The jack is the smaller 2.5mm size and the regular headphones are 3.5mm (1/8") size. Also the smaller size has 4 channels or bands and the headphones have 3 channels or bands. This adapter works perfectly with this phone and my headphones. Both ends fit tight in the connections. I wish the end that fits into the phone was a 90 degree angle. That is why I only gave it a 4 out of 5 rating.

Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

This adapter connects only three of the four 3.5mm contacts to the 2.5mm connector. Those that are connected are not mapped to their equivalent positions on the 2.5mm connector. Labeling the 3.5mm contacts from the tip as ABCD, the mapping (3.5mm ==> 2.5mm) == (ABCD, xBAD) where x is not connected. Do not use for applications that require a one-to-one mapped 3.5mm to 2.5mm adapter.

This adapter functions with my i880, which requires the 4-conductor 2.5mm (3/32") headphone plug. The store clerk let me try the standard 1/8" to 3/32" stereo (3-conductor) adapter in my phone and it didn't work. Then we tried this adapter and it worked fine.I appreciate the tolerance and assistance of the store associate but...Holey cr@p! [$] for an audio adapter plug?As far as the reviewers who comment it doesn't work:IT WASN'T MADE FOR YOUR PHONE'S TYPE OF CONNECTION. DON'T BLAME THE ADAPTER FOR YOUR MISAPPLICATION.

Bottom Line:

I tried a standard 2.5 to 3.5mm adapter (2 of them actually) and all I got was one ear of sound. This one works with my new Motorola W755 - the store clerk was kind enough to let me try it first. It's just the right length so you don't end up with too much cable when attaching your favorite earbuds. Strange that no one at Verizon or Motorola was aware that I needed this type of adapter - 4 pole instead of 3 pole.

I have a mogul 6800 by Sprint.
This is my second adapter. I purchased one originally with some other adapters and thought this was the cause of my issue. It was something else.

I then purchased another adapter which only works on one side of the car. Although it looks better, this works and gives you a longer extension to use phone. I use my phone for GPS, mp3, everything and I can hear all sounds from phone on car speakers including text message noises, etc.

One issue I used to have is when someone calls, even if I use my bluetooth, the sound automatically goes into car speakers but I think this is because of the previous adapter I used. Back when I originally had this adapter, the phone call would fully switch to bluetooth (input and output). I believe I will get same results again.

This product does work with the LG Venus, but you have to make sure to push it in pretty good to get both channels, and for some reason moving the cable around a lot makes it cut in and out between one and two channels.

Mostly bought because I don't want to wait online for something. Price is a sham. But oh well.

Let me clear up some mystery. If your phone is meant to take PLAIN OLD HEADPHONES, and use only bluetooth for hands-free talking, this WON'T WORK. You need a standard stereo 1/8"(3.5mm) to 3/32"(2.5mm) adapter- RS part number 274-373.

This is designed for music phones that will ALSO take a hands free WIRED ear-piece. It has 3 conductors (4 including the ground) for left ear, right ear, and mic. If your phone's jack doesn't HAVE the mic conductor, go with a standard adapter. Hope this helps someone!

I attempted to use this product to connect an LG8350 cell phone to Panasonic RP-HC500 headphones. No, zero, nada, sound came through. The phone works fine with a Jabra handsfree stereo earpiece plugged in. The Panasonic headphones work fine into a wide variety of devices. The sales person did mention that they have had problems with the adapter but "thought" it would work fine with an LG phone. It doesn't. Radio Shack should pull this product and slap their supplier's hand.

Works great with the LG Musiq. Just make sure it is compatible with your phone before you buy it. The length, though short, is perfect. When you combine the nearly 3 foot long adapter supplied with the phone with the nearly 5 feet of headphone cable you end up with a rather cumbersome combination.

Looking at the pinout for both standard TRS 3.5mm jacks (L, R, gnd), and for Motorola RAZR 2.5mm (mic, R, L, gnd), it explains why pulling out a couple mm can get you from 1 channel to 2. Using other jacks, you can get the channels reversed. I don't think the contacts inside are positioned right (on the 3.5mm side), but I don't have the tools on-hand to look into it properly.

If your phone has stereo in it's 2.5mm jack, you will get two channels. Check and make sure your phone has a stereo jack before you buy. If not, buy a mono jack and it will work on both ears/sides. I confirm that this works on the Sprint/Nextel IC902.
