1. Know what you are going to use this device for, don't ask for instructions for a general part!
2. The construction is solid and of good quality, it has low loss and performs well even in the long run.

this fixed a nice set of etymotic headphones. earbud headphones come with such thin wires/cables that it's so easy to rip em apart. i was accidentally standing on a part of the wire when i stood up, ripping the wire apart. The funny thing is that the earbuds were still in my ears after they ripped. don't let the other bad reviews fool you about this being a bad product because of a lack of instructions. there are three terminals. three! plug the plug into a known audio source, and try the different combinations. i'm no electrician, but the idea of manuals coming with electrical parts sounds absurd! "this switch didn't come with instructions!"

This product does its job perfectly. I got a pair of Cobra microTALK Li7599-2WX EVP Radios and a Handheld Clip-On Speaker/Microphone to go with them. Bad news was the plug on the Microphone wasn't the same one as the radios. This little plug is the solution to all of your problems ;). As for the other reviews, this product cannot give you instructions. Due to the many ways manufacturers configure the ports in their equipment. You are not always guaranteed that the configurations will be the same throughout all products. Soldering is a must for this product. If you do not know how to solder, this product is not for you. Just a reminder to all of you, Make sure you have a good mechanical connection before you solder, and this product will last a lifetime!

To the two reviewers that complained there are no instructions: There doesn't need to be any instructions. Its not sold as a replacement part for a specific device, its generic and as such, one should either know what to do with it, get someone to help that does or use the excercise as a learning experience and figure it out.
The part itself is fine and of good quality. Although, the gold doesn't really help, other than to make it pretty.

I bought the part to replace a damaged plug for my Sennheiser ear phones. There are no instrucitons to indicate which of the three screws is the ground. it's a trial by error process.
Comments about RadioShack 1/8" Mini Stereo Phone Plug:
No instructions make this part useless for anyone who doesnt have an electronics background. This should be an easy 1-2-3 process but unless you know which wire goes to what screw hook up you are out of luck. I've been looking online for some help but not finding what I need. I should have had this done by now and all put back together but instead I'm mad and writing this review. Not very well thought out...
