I've never seen a transistor take so much abuse. I thought I thought I fried it several times, but the smoke was coming from the melying plastic on my breadboard. I've shorted it, and operated it at well over 150 C, but never had a problem (except burning my fingers). It's an unbelievably great transistor.

Can take the abuse. Hit the VBE voltage +8 with 4A drain ~1kHz: Still worked. Good for PWM apps where a high off voltage and <15% from peak is acceptable but don't push past 85%. Lots of heat.

You specifications should say the I(C) is 6.0 A not 6.0 mA
