This thing is great, I used it to make an Ipod charger that runs off a nine volt battery. It gives out a constant voltage of 5.02 volts, It's perfect!
When you bend the leads, leave about 1/8" to 1/4" closest to the plastic body unbent. That way if the leads break off (usually after repeated bending, not recommended), you still have 1/8" leads that you can solder longer lead wires to. This holds true for any component - think what the consequences will be if you bend the leads and they break off. Then leave a small length closest to the part untouched (unbent). After you bend the remainder, you will still be able to salvage the part if the leads do break off.
these are very good, but the ''stems'' coming out, broke when i bent them (two times) :-(
I've gone through 3 of these, all are still working. I do lots of projects and this is a great item to use on them.
Great power regulator. Just make sure you get the external heatsink for it if it's for applications that require 1 amp.
This is the best +5 regulator, it stays constant at 1 amp, ( prettty powerful) and it stays constant a 5 volts, perfect for any breadboards or proejct activitysies
be sure to have a load on the output or there will be oscillation problems (blown caps, etc.) A 1000 ohm resistor may do fine (between 5V and gnd) and only take about 5 mA.

Just a normal regulator, nothing more.
