I needed a way to control the volume between my DVD player/ Digital TV receiver and my active speakers (of/ on which the volume controls were out of reach). This worked perfect and saved me money.

If you have used a potentiometer before, this is simply two potentiometers stacked together that respond at the same time so two circuits can be isolated while resistance is changed on both circuits (e.g. stereo audio). I don't know why someone would buy this and need a wireing diagram. Either they don't know what a potentiometer does or they didn't need this potentiometer.

Dimensions and overall quality changed. NOTE: THIS IS NO LONGER FOR 1/4" KNOB USE. IT IS NOW METRIC. It is NOT the same part although it carries the original Radio Shack part number! Does NOT fit RS knobs or any other 1/4" knob.

One of these, some RCA chassis jacks, a box, and knob, and you have a passive pre-amp.

So what it doesn't have a wiring diagram. Google is your friend!

I require that both sides start climbing at the same time. So far this unit has outperformed units costing over $25.00 each. I get about 10% of the others to work and have not rejected one of these yet.

I'm a hobbyist and could have used a wiring diagram for assistance. It took a little time searching internet, but found some help by others.

It turns very smoothly, takes up little space and, given the almost universal 100k rating, can be used almost anywhere a stereo pot is required. I've used 4 of them in different projects and they're a bargain. However, some don't track well. I.E. one channel may be slightly louder than the other, esp. at low levels.

By Jef LVerified Reviewer from Indiana on 4/28/2007

Definitely needs a higher rating, which is why I am adding my review. This is a typical, low-cost vol. control not very different than ones from other sources. I've used about 12 of these and every one of them is still working fine. If you buy a control like this and don't know how to wire it etc., you probably have no business buying one to start with. Overall performance is adequate, with a reasonable tracking. No problems at min. setting like some controls. Nice feel. Easy to cut shaft to needed length. Grounding to chassis required.

By carinstaller M from New England on 1/24/2007
Pros:
Easy to use, Good performance, Good Value, Reliable

This is an component part. People buying this part should know how to solder and have a clue what they are doing it. I used it as a L-Pad passive attenuator between my TiVo and my video capture card in my computer. It works perfect. No more distortion. This part is no more fragile than any other part this size. Could also be used as an bass amp gain control for car audio.

This is a very fragile component. Make sure that you protect the circuit board material on the back - it snaps off easily.
