Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
I watch DVDs and digital photos (taken on my Panasonic FZ-30) on my home 27" T.V. using my Apple laptop. While 'Computer Monitor definition' always beats that of a T.V. nontheless, I am very happy with the sound and picture. Its great seeing a big film on a large screen.
