Comments about ETON Etón American Red Cross FR800 Weather Tracker Radio (Red):

Finally a watheradio that reacts to the 1050Hz tone and SAME data INDEPENDENTLY!
In the US NOAA transmits SAME data then the 1050Hz tone then the bulletin narrative then the EOM when transmitting weather bulletins.
In Canada Environment Canada transmits the 1050Hz tone independently of the SAME data and this radio is the first I've seen that reacts independently to each signalling method. There are weatheradios out there that react to SAME data only and there are weatheradios that react to the 1050Hz tone only. This radio responds to both.
Unfortunately this is the only model that responds to both. For that matter this is the only weatheradio that responds to both.

    Bad reception

Comments about ETON Etón American Red Cross FR800 Weather Tracker Radio (Red):

Bought this thinking that with the Red Cross logo it would be a keeper. Boy was I wrong! This radio would only pick up the WX station in our area if I placed it on the window sill of my bedroom window. Any where else in the house and all I would get is static. It took a fall off of the window sill ( a 2" drop) and ceased to work.
This radio is not worth the money. The old adage of "you get what you pay for" comes to mind in the case of this particular weather radio.

Comments about ETON Etón American Red Cross FR800 Weather Tracker Radio (Red):

I finally found one the works! I first purchase one with a crank to recharge internal batteries. That one had terrible FM selectivity. I then bought the little brother to the FR800. It hard a crank and solar source to charge the battery. But it's FM radio also did not meat my standards. I simple did not pick up any stations. I finally decides that I really did not need the crank and my experience with crank flashlight was not good so I bought the FR800. I have only had it for a few days and still do not know how long the "D" batteries will last. However, the radios are digital, work correctly, and look like it cans stand harsh working or emergency conditions.
