That was the fastest planned obsolescence I have ever been a part of. Indeed a waste of resources-both human and material. I would recommend this only to my arch enemy.

I used this cable for my Wacom Bamboo Drawing Tablet and it worked flawlessly for about week. Then the retracting stopped working, and would only retract but not lock in place, but that didn't really affect the quality. A simple solution is to just tie a knot near the retractor.

A couple weeks ago, after about three months of using it, it began loosing its signal and eventually stopped working altogether.

I don't recomend buying this- it's better to just pay a little bit more for a better quality cable than to be constantly buying new ones that break every few months.

Gigaware cables are extremely low quality. The micro USB connection becomes easily damaged with even the slightest wear and tear, such as removing it from your phone's micro USB jack. Shortly after purchasing this cable, it ceased functioning. The "replacement plan" from RadioShack is NOT a replacement plan- it is a gift certificate plan. You turn in your cable, they send it to an "expert" to determine if it is damaged in the way you describe, and then send you a gift certificate for the value of the cable, tax not included. You must wait for the certificate, delaying the replacement and any utility you require from the cable in the meantime. Then guess what? You get to pay your local sales tax again when you purchase the second cable, days or weeks later, with the gift certificate. In my opinion, if RadioShack sells it as a "replacement plan", then replacement should occur immediately because the sales pitch is misleading and possibly in violation of various consumer protection laws. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that a micro USB cable is not functional, nor does it take one to figure out that you probably shouldn't buy an overpriced cable of low quality from RadioShack.

I bought this and thought that it would be great. Sadly, it was not. It worked well at first but then after 28 days it doesn't work at all. About 1 week before it stopped working completely I had to position the cord in various ways for it to charge. Fortunately, I bought the RadioShack Replacement plan so hopefully I can get another one when I go to the store. I really don't even want another one. I've read the reviews and basically whether it's the 3 or 6 feet cord, this product is no good! Might be better off going to your original cell phone carrier for the specific charger for your phone.

I bought this product with the warranty on it. GOOD THING because I have gone through 3 of them. About every three months it would begin to stop charging my cell phone. I would have to position the cord in a certain way to get it to charge. This product is not worth the [$] I spent on it.

This product lasted about a year for me. Then one day it suddenly stopped charging my phone. This cable looks more rugged than some its competitors but they all seem fail after awhile. Retractable cables tend to wear out faster than the standard USB cables due to the obvious strain on the cable from being pulled and retracted all the time. It was okay while it lasted. Your mileage may vary, I think the price is way too high for its quality. I would NOT pay more that $10 for a cable like this.

When i was at Radioshack getting this, the dude was telling me all about the product... Im like yeah ill get it with out the warranty because nothing should happen. This item is too short... had a shorten in it within the 1 month of purchase and tells me my phone is charging when its not... Defective Merchandise

Don't bother with this product. My first one stopped working after about two weeks. Then I exchanged it for another. The second one stopped working after one week. This was from light to moderate usage conditions, nothing drastic. I refunded it, and stopped using this product.

Worked fine until 3 months. At that time, the retraction mechanism broke, item is now worthless and can't return it. Save your money.
