Comments about Eton Grundig Mini 400 AM/FM Shortwave Radio (Black): This radio works for me. It is not a good travel radio, but to keep in a shirt pocket at work and enjoy NPR, it's perfect. In the middle of the night when you want to find some interesting content on AM and SW, it's perfect. Stereo FM reception (when connected to headphones or external speakers) is much better than comparable pocket radios at half this price - I've enjoyed sampling top 40 radio for the first time in several years. The aesthetics make this worth the price for me - its size, weight, shape and digital display make it a very attractive device.

Best Uses Comments about Eton Grundig Mini 400 AM/FM Shortwave Radio (Black): poor reception, drifts, relative short battery life..don't waste your money on this one. I considered this a real waste of money. Worth maybe $5 on a good day.

Comments about Eton Grundig Mini 400 AM/FM Shortwave Radio (Black): AM is reception is very poor and won't pick up some nearby stations at all here in a large major Great Lakes city. SW is funny, 1 station from China and 1 preacher down south. The channel dial changes stations on it's own. Total Junk!. Doesn't anybody at Radio Shack get this stuff out?..

Comments about Eton Grundig Mini 400 AM/FM Shortwave Radio (Black): I love this inexpensive little radio. It has served me very well and allows me to listen to AM / SW and FM stations. The telescopic antenna isn't enough to listen to SW stations around the world but a simple 10 or 20 foot wire clipped onto the antenna will get you all you need.

Comments about Eton Grundig Mini 400 AM/FM Shortwave Radio (Black): This little radio is a MUST!! It's priced incredibly low for all its features. Clip a 20 foot wire to the antenna to improve its already good reception capabilities. It's only 3/8" thick and easily fits into any shirt pocket. I've had the earlier version (Mini 300) for a few years and I love it too. The newer Mini 400 has a bit more stable tuning wheel. Great SW and AM reception and FM is incredible. I LOVE this little radio!! It's a LOT of BANG for the buck!!

Best Uses Comments about Eton Grundig Mini 400 AM/FM Shortwave Radio (Black): I purchased this radio to listen to ball games while walking. You can't put it in your pocket because the volume and tuning knobs move when you do. You can't even put it into the supplied carrying case without it changing stations and volume levels. If you set it on a table and don't touch it the tuned frequency will change by itself. Also, only 2 stations on Shortwave?! and the headphone jack doesn't work?! Taking it back tomorrow morning.

Comments about Eton Grundig Mini 400 AM/FM Shortwave Radio (Black): This radio is a piece of junk. Gets NO AM reception. FM reception is poor at best. Even on the east coast, you have no shot at getting a MLB game.

Comments about Eton Grundig Mini 400 AM/FM Shortwave Radio (Black): I had high hopes for this receiver, primarily for backpacking. Pros are that it is lightweight and that the FM reception is pretty good but there is very poor AM reception and poor SW reception as well. It has trouble maintaining a certain frequency possibly due to the analog controls. It also lacks a sleep timer, which I find very helpful on a radio like this. Now the device is defective in that it will not shut off. Overall, this was not a good purchase for me and I am off to Radio Shack to trade up to another model.
