good general use temp reader, does not require physical contact but you need to be within a few inches. tops out at 240degF, can't use it to check temp of soldering iron/preheater/etc. LCD display is not backlit and is recessed so has only about a 15-20 degree viewing angle. Holds last reading 15 sec then auto powers off so battery life is excellent. Reading button is recessed and soft so it can be unreliable to press. Displays C or F. Pocket clip can be handy. Body is rubber and medium hard plastic so should be durable.

This is about the most basic IR thermometer possible but the small size and reliable operation have allowed quick measurements to be made in numerous situations where it was impossible before. It has become a valued tool to provide both relative and absolute (with some error) readings

I use it for RC car brushed and brushless motor temps. Range is perfect for that but if you do other stuff above above 110C or 230F get something else. Also you have to be very close to the object to get a good readying...think 1 inch. I would buy it again.

The product is very convenient to use in a variety of settings and for a variety of purposes. The digital readout is rather difficult to read though, and would appreciate a back light for use in dark settings. Also, caution is advised to keep track of the item's whereabouts, as it is very easy to lose or misplace.

in my opinion I think it works very well for what its made for, I do wish it had a higher temperature range but it is still a good deal for [$]
