      Don't sell this scanner

      By Information

      from Marion, Iowa

Comments about RadioShack PRO-649 200-Channel Handheld Radio Scanner:

This scanner is useless in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
You hear nothing other than Life Guard occasionally-once in a while emergency management. Linn County has went to a trunked digital system & this scanner will pick up nothing as it is not a digital scanner.

Comments about RadioShack PRO-649 200-Channel Handheld Radio Scanner:

Great little scanner. Easy to program, simple to use and works very well for what I paid for it. The only drawback I can see so far is the volume control... you go from barely audible to REALLY LOUD with just a slight turn of the knob. Volume control is a bit better with headphones but most of the time I want to use it with the built in speaker.

Comments about RadioShack PRO-649 200-Channel Handheld Radio Scanner:

*Used mainly to identify airliners taking off and landing carrying friends and family.
*Secondary use to monitor the weather channel during weather events.
*Programming features are useful to allow manual switching back and forth between frequencies.
*Scan function is annoying as it keeps moving between channels.
*Occasional cross channel inteference with tx channels 0.1MHz +/- was a bit annoying.
*Would be nice to be able to give titles to channels.
