Comments about RadioShack® 15-Range Digital Multimeter:

Went to the store and purchased this meter, got home pulled it out and it didn't work! Grab the quick start guide and it tells me to install a 12v battery. Nothing more than install 12v battery. No size part numbers no nothing. Called RadioShack they do not know what battery it takes. Looks like I have to drive 10 miles to return this and get something that actually can be used.

Comments about RadioShack® 15-Range Digital Multimeter:

This is a real and quite compact digital multimeter.
However, its leads are only 18" long, non-detachable, and don't pack easily into its case.
It uses an odd-type battery, shaped similar to a AAA cell, but 12V.
It might be good for the traveller who wants to have a DMM with him, but is too small to be a bench instrument, though is versatile enough to serve as one.

Comments about RadioShack® 15-Range Digital Multimeter:

I was amazed at how small the unit was when I opened the box. Battery not included, there is no information on what battery it takes (A23), or how to get to the battery compartment. I determined you have to split the cases to put in a battery. The catch that keeps the cover latched broke the first time I tried to close it, and the terminal leads are all but impossible to fit back inside the case and be able to close the cover. A lot less than I expected for the price.

Comments about RadioShack® 15-Range Digital Multimeter:

If you're serious about electronics, don't get this meter. It's fine for simple voltage and resistance readings but other than that, it's pretty much useless. Why? It has a low impedance, its case is pretty much useless, and you can't change it's leads. It's really not a terrible meter, especially for such a low price, but trust me; put forth an extra 20 some-odd dollars and get a nice meter with some more options on it, like the option to read capacitance.

Comments about RadioShack® 15-Range Digital Multimeter:

Almost impossible to get the leads back in the case and close the lid. Almost impossible to open the lid without using a tool of some sort. The open case/lid could make a good stand, except there is nothing to hold it in a standing position, especially on a smooth surface. Uses a hard to find 12v battery. Other than that, the meter works well.

Radio Shack you need to respond to these reviews. Read them and listen and make changes. I drove 30 minutes to your store and bought this and drove home and find that there is no battery included. Who does that these days????

Also if you have a magnifying glass you can search the box and find out that it says Battery not Included. At least you could tell the clerk to let the customer know before they leave.

Here is what will happen now. The customer will purchase one online with a battery and return yours to your store and is less likely to return.

Comments about RadioShack® 15-Range Digital Multimeter:

Look: it's a cheap meter. You shouldn't buy cheap meters.

Why? Because one day it'll give you a reading you didn't expect, and you won't know if you can trust it, because it's a cheap meter. You'll have to go buy a decent meter to find out if your cheap meter was telling the truth.

Sooner or later, you're going to need a proper multimeter - you might as well buy one now. Don't waste your money on this.
