These are great speakers for the money! For this computer system, my only speakers were built in to the monitor (Yuck). The Gigaware 40-287's have a great sound for small cheap speakers. I am very happy with them, thanks Shack!

well i plugged everything in exactly as the instructions said and the subwoofer would just squeal....theres very little sound coming from the speakers and the subwoofer is just squealing like a radio transmision, or like when you put a microphone to close to a speaker, but it stop when i unplug the aux cord...

I dropped the control-pod onto a granite floor once, and the volume control is now slightly messed up. You have to push down on it to make sure the audio is outputted through both satellite speakers in all frequencies. Otherwise, some frequencies are dropped, and the audio will output through one satellite speaker.

The speakers with my Lap Top were good sounding, but had poor bass response. I have a large jazz music library in my computor. I needed a bass subwoofer to enhance the sound. This system does everything I need in a small home sound system. The bass is now clean & deep, along with the satelite speakers being crisp & clear. The 16 watt amplifier is perfect for my needs. I could not ask for a better sounding system for the money!

I'm not going to claim that I am a 'super audiophile' or 'have gone to skool 4 awdio and know everything,' but I'll tell you I won't write a review unless I know what I'm talking about. People who rated this 5 stars weren't looking for accurate sound, rather blinded by good looks, and just wanted music. These speakers looks are as far as they go. The tweeters on the satilite speakers, those little oval holes, those are FAKE tweeters. They arent real. Its just a peice of plastic made to look like a tweeter. They do nothing. When a company needs to treat us like idiots and put "FAEK GUDIES" on their products to get us to buy, that obviously means that they aren't worth our time. And the subwoofer? Just like ALL of the cyber acoustics and Gigaware products I've ever seen, very poor. Its not even a subwoofer, in fact after opening up the system, it is smaller than my late 90's early 2000's alarm clock SPEAKER. The surround on this subwoofer is just looks, the woofer will bottom out (break basically) before reaching the limits of the surround. Simple terms- the woofer is the size of an alarm clock speaker, and cannot accurately reproduce the 'base' which is claims. And no, I did type "base" on purpose. It actually spelt it like that on the box. Really, a typo? No wonder they mistook an alarm clock speaker for a subwoofer. Goes down to '20hz?' Well the amplifier crawls to that frequency, but the woofer is not capable with its little alarm clock sized woofer to get down that low. It rather sounds very tinny and horrible. Bottom line, I know this has LOTS of GOOD reviews, I thought it looked good as well, but when I opened it I found nothing but a bunch of poorly glued hot glue, fake speakers for looks, and 'subwoofers' smaller than alarm clock speakers, which do not have the parameters to efficiently reporoduce the frequencies which the box claims to do. Seriously, it is VERY pathetic, even for [$].

The new flat screen televisions cannot produce the sound quality of the old time big box televisions. All the televisions I considered, no matter the brand or price point, just couldn't produce a non-"tingy" sound. The days of getting any base in the unit seem to be gone. I didn't want to disturb my neighbors or break any windows, I just want the sound of my new televsion to have a little bass and sound like my old school big box televsion. I paid about thrity dollars for these speakers and they exceed my expectations! They are amazing! They do a great job...produce much better sound than my old televsion. I have ennoyed listening to music loudly and watching televsion using these speakers and I am so glad I purchased them! They are fantastic...worth every penny. Don't pay more for Logitech Altec Lansing. These do just great!

I brought these speakers for my office computer. These speakers sound great for the price. I didn't expect them to sound this good. I love the deep bass sound for my music and I couldn't ask for a better product. In fact, these sound just as good as my Bose portable system for my ipod. I couldn't believe the sound of these inexpensive speakers. My two co-workers ran over to get them a set after I hooked up mine. I will be buying another set for my home computer. I'm impressed!!

For the money I expected to be disappointed. But no; I'm thrilled at the sound, clear mid range, adequate base, I'd have expected to pay $50-$60 for something like this. Keep in mind though, its a 16W system so you're not going to generate large dB but it will fill a quite room with sound.

Bought a new desktop without any built in speakers. Bought these bad boys because of the low price and I wasn't expecting much out of them. Plugged it in and the sound quality blew me away. Awesome sound for the price!
