This worked ok for a while but I doubted its accuracy from the beginning. Then it started reading perfectly good batteries as bad. Now it won't take a reading at all. Also poorly designed extending arm makes it difficult to hold the battery in place. Wish I never bought it, even though it was cheap.

works for all but button batteries (hearing aid batts)it reads dead on new ones. Even ones tested at the store!!

I had one of these for many years and it broke yesterday after having it maybe 15 years. I am glad Radio Shack carried it cause none of the local stories carried it. Thanks, Radio Shack! I used this one quite a lot.

Mine works fine. Course I'm an engineer/musician, but anyone can use this little goodie. I have tons of remotes in the house andcar, and this checker gives me piece of mind that they all have good batteries. I replace going bad batteries before my wife discovers them the hard way, and gives me grief!!. So....I'm getting one for all my sons and son-in-laws this year. (might prevent a divorce you know)

This was to replace a Radio Shack tester that I had used for so many years, and loved. This, as a replacement, was totally unacceptable. There was Extreme variance in readings for the same battery after checking it several times on this meter. I only regret not checking here for reviews, first, before I bought & had to return it. I must add, that after my experience and reading these reviews, I know the reviews are accurate and reliable. I will now try another model from this store. I only wanted this to quickly test batteries, without having to set up my multimeter each time I needed to check a battery.

The arms slips all over; connecting the top AND the bottom AND holding the battery steady is difficult. Most of the time I can get a 'good' as well as a 'dead' reading on a battery---very few register only 'dead'-----those are the only ones I throw away. It's easier for me to test AA in a little clock that only requires one AA.

This is a poorly engineered product. If you try to test CR2032 or similar sized button cells, you'll find that you can't do it. The positive side of the cell does not make contact with the arm.

Also, the redesigned version requires two hands. With the old version, you could move the arm with one hand while manipulating the battery with the other.

Tested larger batteries correctly. Tried it on good and bad known batteries.

Not good on hearing aid batteries. Same test and both batteries failed. One just bought at Radio Shack!! I know the pack was good as I put them in my hearing aids and they work great.

The plastic arm feels fragile and would be easy to break.

I am returning it in the morning to the store. This is not my first tester.

I tried to use this tester around the house. Found it difficult to keep the spring loaded arm from closing while I put a battery in the tester. A device this small and inexpensive should not be this difficult to use. The spring loaded arm felt really cheap, like it could brake pretty easily. I liked the previous model with the flip arm a lot better.
