I used this during Hurricane Sandy and it powered 2 lights, a laptop and power strip on which I recharged smartphones easilty. One complaint is that the car cables don't have a longer cord. I had to leave the Power inverter under the hood of the car, next to the windshield, and I would have preferred to put it inside the car, safely out of the elements.

I inspect over 100 foreclosures a week; my complete office is in my truck powered by this inverter. I run a laptop, navigation, mobile hotspot, and charge 2 cell phones and a digital camaera all at once. I went through 2 different ones in the 6 months before I bought this one (specifically for the extened warranty and service).

Fan stopped working after 2 weeks. Plastic construction melted on one of the sides. If you only plan on using it for about 15 minutes at a time, then you are ok.

My Sunforce inverter was a joke, it burned the wiring when I attached it to the deep cycle battery on my solar panel. As soon as I hooked up my Enercell, power for air pump and water pump engaged and ran perfectly all day long. Remote location too far for extension cord.

I purchased this unit to install a 15" LCD TV and DVD player in my vehicle last summer for a long road trip. It powered both of those plus my laptop (using a power strip) for 20+ hours for that trip and has been working well ever since. I ran 12awg cables directly to my battery for it with a 30a fuse because through the cigarette lighter it only delivers about 150 watts (because most cigarette lighter plugs in cars have low amperage fuses and cheap wiring). Properly connected, this unit works very well and for a long time.

I should have read reviews which all seem to point at exactly what I found.

Unit no longer works after rare use over the past year or so. Fan started getting louder but seemed to quiet when switched on/off quickly. Apparently this is the warning before it goes dead because the unit no longer works!

Find another brand or better warranty

Used product to recharge computer while camping. It now puts out 185 AC voltage. Would not have bought it if read reviews 1st. Replaced it with one from Northern Tools...great company.
