Cons Best Uses Comments about Enercell™ Battery Checker: I don't know how many times only one of four batteries is bad! I used to throw them all away. Now I just replace the bad one and save cash!

Comments about Enercell™ Battery Checker: This is one of the best [$] investments I've made! I can't tell you how many times I would have thrown away a whole group of batteries if an item is not working, not knowing if there was a single or multiple batteries not working. This device enables me to check each and every battery in the house before throwing away. My kids use it and love it too...and with kids, we go through what seems like 50-100 batteries each year. I can't begin to guess how much money it has saved us through the years. It is a must in every household as far as I'm concerned.
Comments about Enercell™ Battery Checker: I have the older version and have had it for years. Works great for quick check. I'd buy another one if this one ever quits. Pros

Comments about Enercell™ Battery Checker: When I swap out new batteries in my radios, flashlights, and other gadgets I put them into a Ziploc bag until there are about 20 or 30. I would then sit down with my multi-meter and sort them according to remaining power. Anything below 1.1v goes into recycling. The others, I group into 1.2v, 1.3v, 1.4v, etc. for use in my grandkids toys. Grouping keeps a lower battery from drawing down better ones when installed in pairs or more. While using the multimeter gave the most accurate results, handling the leads and swapping through a pile of batteries was a juggling act I always hated. I planned to build my own tester when I found this one. I wanted a holder so I could run through a stack of batteries quickly. I also planned some jacks I could plug my meter into. Quick change-out and accurate readings! Well the I found this unit. It's basically a "tray" with a spring loaded contact ... pull down with your thumb, dump your battery. Drop in another and release your thumb. Quick and simple. The spring loaded contact is a great size for my big hands and makes good contact. The salesman let me test a few against his store multi-meter. Those I checked were within a few hundredths of a volt so its good enough to check and sort your old batteries for re-use in less demanding toys, etc. Try it ... you'll like it. OH BTW- someone else said the sliding contact started to bend right away. I suppose this is technically true ... BUT it is only settling back against its supporting rails as it was designed to do. Its not a defect.

Cons Best Uses Comments about Enercell™ Battery Checker: Heres a shocker for thode of you saying this is a "newer" version of an older product....its not RadioShack has simply relabled the EXACT same checkers from before with an enercell brand name, they have and are, and for the forseeable future be made by RAYOVAC for radioshack. its the same product.
Comments about Enercell™ Battery Checker: Owned less than a year stopped working. Had similar looking one but Radio Shack label that lasted over 15 years. Would not recommend newer version. Pros
Cons Best Uses Comments about Enercell™ Battery Checker: Tests a range of battery sizes and types.
Pros
Cons Best Uses Comments about Enercell™ Battery Checker: All batteries test 1.5 - 1.8 volts (uh, they're 1.5 volt batteries). Even near-dead ones register 1.5.
