Typical indoor rabbit ears antennas with amplifiers didn't work well as TV stations are 30 miles away. Was getting total signal disruption when used microwave for cooking food. Researched Nat. Electrical Code, in my situation, sensible safety dictated 2 grounding wires and rod for lighting, equipment protection & insurance when mounted on roof. Decided to try mounting antenna inside attic first as grounding is not required and less $120 expenses in materials plus time. If it didn't work, then I'd move it outside, etc.
WOW!!! The C290 works awesome in my attic without any amplification. I didn't even have to spend time tuning the signal. Even although I'm 10-15 degrees off of the towers (in-between 2 sets of towers), I get great reception for UHF and VHF channels. This won't meet everyone's needs but for me it's worth every dollar! And my wife ecstatic too!

This is a nice antenna. Not sure it would hold up well if you have to move it as one of my radials broke. But if you are in market (not more that 50 miles from TV transmitters) this antenna is all you need. You might need a larger ant if you are > 50 miles from the market.

I am so over spending >1200$ a year for paid TV services. You pay top $ for services like that and then have to watch tons of commercials not to mention dozens of channels you never use. Give me HBO and over the air services!

I put this up and took it down the signal quality was no better than the Omni Directional. This would be great if you live 100 miles from the source and have no need to ever look at your house.

[...] It was light and weighs about 5 lbs. The assembly was easy. I installed it in my garage just under the roof. This is the highest interior place in the house. A wooden dowel was screwed to the beam as the antenna post. Keeping it inside will avoid oxidation in the joints that will occur outside and kill the performance over time. I point it toward LA's Mt. Wilson (35 mi away). I am able to pull in over 90 DTV stations. This is fantastic considering the signals have to go through a tree outside and then a small stucco wall with metal wires inside!

I am not sure there is a better Antenna for any amount of money, works great, this is the second one we have purchased, left the first on in the house we sold. Easy to install, easy to set, picks up tons of signals. Buy-Buy Cable TV and your super high rates!!
