For those that came to this page looking for an answer, and not just the complaints like others have posted, the wire that has printing on it is for the tip. Simple as that.

I tested the wires because of the reviews where people did not know which was the positive lead or negative lead:

On the Adaptor, the "tip" is iinside, the "sleeve/barrel" is the outside (of the round "plug in" end) You can usually find this on your battery pack itself (there is a diagram on each one)

Adaptor aligned with + facing "tip":
When looking at the label "tip", the lower lead with the PRINTING was THE POSITIVE (+)

When looking at the label "tip", the lower lead WITH THE PRINTING would then be NEGATIVE (-)

This adapta plug thing is a great idea BUT. I bought the plug and the "socket" which accepts the plug. The molded plastic on the socket tells you how to align the plug into the socket but then there is no labeling or the slightest clue which wire lead coming out of the socket is the tip or sleave. Why go thru the trouble to mold the plastic with "tip" in it and + and - signs so you can properly align plug to socket and not tell which lead is which???? Someone screwed up royal and makes this good idea worthless at this point. Nothing on the packaging either!!!????

I bought this along with an enercell adaptaplug to repair a AC-DC converter cord for my phone. Unfortunately, there is no documentation to help you make sure that you have the polarity on the tip right. USELESS to me without a multimeter to check proper installation!
