I was going to use the radio up in the mountains, 20 miles away, but the range is only about 2.7 miles. I made sure I was using the 1.5 watt channels. I wouldn't have bought these if they had been labeled as 2 mile radios. Who gets 27 miles range with these?

I got this because it claimed 27 mile range in optimal conditions. I wasn't expecting 27, but I was shocked to find it was 1 mile max.
I was going to use this on our cruise; when we got off the ship.
We tested it last night by traveling in two separate cars. We used a straight road and measured the distance between our cars with the odometer.

At 1 Mile, you had a lot of static. At 1.4 your message was not received.

I use this product to talk to other people On FRS/GMRS channels in my neighborhood.Also I like to use this product on road trips to talk to other people on the road.The great thing about this product is the Built-in flashlight and it is also a weather Radio.

I work for a drama company. The headphone jack broke in the first week. I lightly bumped it against one of the sets and the circuit board broke inside. My friend bought one just like it on the same day and it broke in the same way. This product is good to use without the ear piece, but if you use the earpiece be VERY careful.
