Comments about Antennacraft® FMSS Omnidirectional FM Antenna: The Problem: I live in a small town with a single radio station. Reception is OK. Unable to get any other FM stations. Would like alternatives when there is local programming that I don't want to listen to.

Comments about Antennacraft® FMSS Omnidirectional FM Antenna: FM radio stations 40 miles north and 40 miles south. At initial setup my favorite station had some static. I switch the polarity (swap wires) and it is clear as a bell now. I can get all my favorites from the North & South as well. Great small investment. Still awesome after 12 years in my attic.

Comments about Antennacraft® FMSS Omnidirectional FM Antenna: This is a great antenna for FM stations. I just mounted it on the side of my home about 20ft up with a ten foot pole. It was very easy to put together and set up. It only took 4 to 5 hours to put it up. The signal is very strong and getting stations I never got before. Its a very good product.

Comments about Antennacraft® FMSS Omnidirectional FM Antenna: Don't be fooled by the -3 Db rating. FM omnis generally don't pull anything like the 12Db of UHF antennas, even the best get 0Db of gain.

Comments about Antennacraft® FMSS Omnidirectional FM Antenna: This antenna I purchased just the other day I thought it was going to serve my purposes but I later (After hooking it up.) find out it did not serve my purposes. I hooked it up on the roof approximately 23 ft in the air with a pre amp. It did not get good reception even for local FM radio stations it did not get all that great. A couple of local FM radio stations came in great but others that are In Philly PA (Which is where i am receiving signals from.) did not come in good. Most of the stations came in with static. I recently hooked up my previous FM radio antenna (Which by the way it is a directional one.) this antenna outperformed the omni directional FMSS antenna. Outperformed the FMSS antenna significantly. Just do your self a favor and buy a better directional FM antenna and get some height on it as well.

Comments about Antennacraft® FMSS Omnidirectional FM Antenna: I was looking to improve the FM reception of a stereo receiver and HD Radio tuner. That was how I came across the Antennacraft FMSS. Although RadioShack's web site claimed it was carried in a nearby store, such did not turn out to be the case. I had to order it in store.[...] It was worth the wait! In a nutshell, this antenna offers excellent performance.Although it is not recommended in the included instructions, I placed the antenna at the top of a roughly 35 foot high antenna tower that was previously used with a TV antenna. After connecting RadioShack's 15-321 signal amplifier, I ran the cable indoors to the amplifier's other half and then on to my equipment. It was the work of only a few hours in the late afternoon to install it, and most of that time was spent working slowly and carefully to assure that nothing was broken or damaged. The installation was not difficult, but you should be very careful. The warnings about powerlines and other hazards are very real, so please don't overestimate your abilities and DO read the directions before you start. In hindsight, I probably wouldn't have needed to use the RadioShack amplifier. (It seemed like a good idea at the time, since I wanted to connect two tuners.) Even with the amplfiier's gain set low, this antenna really pulls in the stations. Almost everything within a thirty mile radius comes in loud and clear.Beyond that, stations are very listenable. I managed to get a station broadcasting 75 miles away in reasonable fidelity. If you need an outdoor FM antenna, seriously consider this unit. Be aware that it has an omnidirectional pickup pattern--anyone living near a tall metal object (such as a water tower or planes that fly overhead) may have problems with FM multipath that only a directional antenna will eliminate. My only complaint is that you cannot later collapse the elements. You might need to do that if you moved the antenna into a tight location while it was folded up in the shipping position and later need to remove it from that area. Antennacraft's instructions clearly state that attempting to fold the antenna back up may break it, and they could be right. The locking tabs that hold it are very tight. Pros

Comments about Antennacraft® FMSS Omnidirectional FM Antenna: Owned several FM omnitennas. For the size these also get Digital TV? Yep, Yes the new change now in some casses, get the new signals with no need for the antenna beasties of old. Less windload, u can place it higher. Works for me. Works well out in the boonies! COOL! Gives FM Stereo the signal you want to enjoy. Pros

Comments about Antennacraft® FMSS Omnidirectional FM Antenna: When Comcast dropped FM service from the cable in our fringe area, we struggled by, constantly readjusting twin-lead dipoles, and even at their best, they just didn't work very well. This new antenna is on a mast about 5 feet above the roofline, and we now get a pretty good signal. Displaying reviews 1-10 Previous | Next » |
