Picked this up to replace our UHF (HDTV) only antenna to pick up the local FM radio sstations. It picks up FM just fine and found all of the same digital TV channels as the 150.00 twin bay antenna it replaced.

Antenna brings in VHF channels 7 and 9

Comments about Antennacraft HBU33 High-VHF/UHF Antenna:

We weren't able to get VHF channels 7 and 9 on our ground floor with a flat indoor UHF antenna here in Longmont, CO.

I went to the local Radio Shack in Harvest Junction here in Longmont to find a UHF/VHF. I was pleased the sales person didn't steer me to the most expensive antenna. He suggested an active rabbit ears/loop combinations for $34.99. I tried it but it was worse than the flat antenna.

So I went back and bought the HBU33 boom antenna and 100 feet of RG6 (75 ohm) coax cable. I tested it by assembling it in one of the upstairs bedrooms and running the signal vial the 100' cable down to the first floor television. After doing that I was able to see all availabe VHF and UHF channels in our area.

The assembly was easy: snap the elements into place and put the main boom together. I plan to put it in my garage attic but for now I've attached it to my garage ceiling. I pointed it parallel to I-25. Now I can admire the antenna upon exiting and entering my garage. When I've the gumption I will fold it up, push it through the garage attic entry, and mount it up there.

I'm an electrical engineer and have worked on antenna design back in the day. I was worried the 100' of coax would attenuate the signal too much but it was fine without and amplification. I was a little disappointed that there were no plots of the E and H fields gains vs angle.

          I highly reccoment this antenna.

Comments about Antennacraft HBU33 High-VHF/UHF Antenna:

We bought this to replace another roof antenna (mounted in attic). For whatever reason, the previous one just stopped working. We needed something fast, and this model was in stock in our local store. The reviews were good, and the price was right so we bought it and installed it that same day. Easy enough to assemble and install, we hooked it up to existing wiring. This is not an amplified antenna but works better than the amplified one we replaced. The range isn't quite as far as it claims, but we get all the local stations (just not the ones outside our "local" area). Picture and sound quality are very, very good. We live in a hilly, rural area but get great reception with this mounted on top of our roof. I'd recommend it.

Comments about Antennacraft HBU33 High-VHF/UHF Antenna:

I selected this model because of its shorter length (85 inches) over the Antennacraft C490 (120 inches). That was important because I wanted an attic mount. It was easy to assemble. I didn't even use a mast. I simply used rope on both ends to hang the antenna from rafters. I only needed to reach signals within a 40 miles radius and it does that great. Great HD quality for PBS, NBC, CBS, CW, ABC, and FOX along with several other channels. I wanted high quality viewing of football without paying for cable or dish, and that's what I got.

It works great the HD picture quality is as good or better than the cable picture, I am using the antenna during power outages to be able to connect with the outside world. This is a perfect solution for these situations.A+++++++++++

I replaced my 15 year old antenna with the HBU33 and and I have to say for the price it,s a good value. I live in northeren IL and I wanted to get the madision WI stations back, well I recived them again and my picthure is clearer and the color is better. It took me about an hour to get it all hooked up on a pole that is at end of my home.

Replaced old broken antenna with HBU33 and lost all channels but one (ABC). Put the old one back up and all channels came back in. Returned it to store for money back. Bent dipoles on old one look good to me, at least they work.

Easy assembly. Roof mounted it on short mast from a dish I ditched. I had to tweak the mast pipe a bit to get it to fit by pinching it. I have a pretty good run of coax and added an amplifier. Actually started with two amplifiers/power injectors and over powered the signal. Took me awhile to figure that out after searching the web for suggestions. I've got it hooked up to two TVs. I'm pulling 80%+ signals in from transmitters from as far away as 65 miles and 45 degrees apart. Quite satisfied!

I live in a suburb near to downtown Chicago. I laid this antenna on the floor of the attic of my townhouse, I did not even mount it, nor is it near an outside wall, and I get great reception on all channels including Channel 2 (CBS). I even split the signal between two large screen TVs and I have had no problems, even in bad weather. I tried a couple of other antennas, and they did not work at all. I could not be happier. No joke, it took me about 20 minutes from taking it out of the box to watching clean, crisp, free HD TV.
