    Comments about Antennacraft HD1850 Heavy-Duty VHF/UHF/FM Antenna:

This is a great antenna, and have purchased Radio Shack antennas for years. 30 miles from the Phoenix transmitters, and 129 miles from the Tucson transmitters, and 99 miles from the Prescott transmitters. We can receive all of the Phoenix channels, and a few of the Tucson channels, with PBS 6.1, 6.2, 6.3, and KTTU 18.1 coming in consistently well all the time. Other Tucson channels like 4, 9, 11, and 13 only come in depending on weather conditions. To just be able to receive channels that are 129 miles away is impressive. Having a rotor helps as well to fine tune this antenna, as it can require precise directions from distant stations.

        Comments about Antennacraft HD1850 Heavy-Duty VHF/UHF/FM Antenna:

The last storm with 90 mph winds finally took down the old antenna on my roof (it had lasted 9 years with many other windstorms and 10 or more feet of snow each winter). This one was easy to set up after reading the directions a few times and identifying the parts in the pictures. Very big but light, was able to carry it up the ladder and on the roof with one hand, holding it high so no tines hit anything. It was easy to mount on the existing 10 foot pole (had to reattach it to the roof as the tripod mounts had torn out in the storm). I plan to add guide wires to this one this weekend. Reception has been great - getting 18 of the possible 19 stations in my area (the last one is 110 degrees off from the others and is a minor station anyway). The old antenna was only able to get 10 stations. No amp needed, the farthest tower is only 23 miles away. There are plenty of trees around the house (birch) and no line-of-sight to any of the towers (7 different towers per antenna web dot org).

              Comments about Antennacraft HD1850 Heavy-Duty VHF/UHF/FM Antenna:

Mounted this unit on a 20' pole about 5 years ago. I also use a good amp, but no rotor. I leave the amp set at about 30% gain. Reception is excellent, and I get about 30 channels. I live near Greenville, SC, and not only get the local towers (which are about 30 miles away), but Charlotte, NC (90 miles away) and Asheville (45 miles away) stations as well. Weather affects reception very little, and only on the most distant stations. We get a lot of wind and some ice here, and nothing on it has broken thus far. Because it is quite large, I did have to guy-wire the pole in place. You would need a very large attic to do an attic set-up, given the size.

              Comments about Antennacraft HD1850 Heavy-Duty VHF/UHF/FM Antenna:

This replaced an antenna purchassed 6-7 years ago from Radio Shack. It had seen better days and was beginning to drop signals. The hardest part was getting the new one up on the roof without bending the radials. Care had to be taken to make sure the signal lines did not short out. I did not loose any channels with this installation.

              Comments about Antennacraft HD1850 Heavy-Duty VHF/UHF/FM Antenna:

Bought this antenna thinking i'd get more channels then the small antenna I had. Not only did I get fewer channels but the signal was very poor as well. After the cold front belw in on Saturday,(11/26/11 most of the tabs broke and the rods were either dangling down or were broke and laying on the ground.
So please don't waste your money on this piece of garbage. FYI this antenna lasted two (2) weeks.

It's too bad that the durability of this antenna is poor. It worked great until a windstorm unlocked some of the tabs on the elements and then the ice storm hit and now she looks like a bomb got set off on it. Don't waste your money on this thing, trust me...

plastic clips breaks that holds antenna together after 7 years.I cannot afford to buy a [$] antenna every 7 years. My dad has had one for 40 years and this not falling apart. There's no difference between analog and digital TV aerials, according the HDTVantennalabs.com. Antenna makers and marketers have dubbed various products as digital or high-definition TV antennas simply because these buzzwords help their new aerials sell better.
