Weak Antenna

Pros

  • Easy To Set Up

Cons

  • Poor Reception

Best Uses

  • Attic/Roof Mount

Comments about Antennacraft® HD1800 Heavy-Duty VHF/UHF/FM Antenna:

I put the antenna on the roof replacing another antenna that I had bought from Radio Shack. We had some severe storms that dismantled my old antenna. The new antenna was simple to put up, but... it doesn't pull in signals well at all. I live 30 miles from a major metro area with a wide variety of stations. I was previously able to pull in almost all channels with my old antenna (even after it was damaged) that had a 120 mile rating. The new antenna with a slightly lower reception rating can't even pull in the stronger channels without losing the signal. I've aimed, re-aimed, and re-aimed the antenna again and nothing helps. I went to a website online to help identify where I should be aiming my antenna. I even got a signal amplifier and nothing helped. I am sorely disappointed in this antenna. Don't waste your money on this antenna because it isn't worth it.

      Comments about Antennacraft® HD1800 Heavy-Duty VHF/UHF/FM Antenna:

2nd winter and it is losing the longer radials. They are cracking, bending and falling off. It still pulls in a strong signal. I suppose I will leave it up until the wind completely destroys it. Then I will buy a different brand to replace it.

        Comments about Antennacraft® HD1800 Heavy-Duty VHF/UHF/FM Antenna:

I've had this antenna for many years and it bridged over the analog to digital eras without any problem.
With one position, I get all 15 local digital channels, even though it's pointed at the most distant transmitting location, which is 80 degrees away from the other transmitters. I recently lost this antenna to a neighbor's falling tree and will buy another. I bought the first one 26 years ago and it still was serviceable.
