Comments about Netgear® N150 Wireless Router:

During setup it says I need an Ethernet adapter. This is a new wireless laptop. If in fact a wireless adapter is needed it should have been included or a proviso stating that one was needed should have been posted.

    DO NOT UPGRADE FIRMWARE

Comments about Netgear® N150 Wireless Router:

Everything was working great until i decided to change security on the wifi. When i opened the device homepage, it started updating the firmware, and i thought, ok cool. The GUI of the new FW was very nice, and easy to navigate..... The problems came 2 minutes after finishing what i set out to do.
BEWARE THIS LATEST FIRMWARE HAS MAJOR CONNECTION ISSUES. Wifi drops every other minute, and the only way to render the issue is to reset EVERYTHING, and then it will only work for another 2 minutes, and drop again. I was wracking my head around what could possible be the problem, as i am in IT myself, but no setting i made would solve the issue. After spending 6 hours banging my head against the router, i found pages upon pages of people with the same problem, and it all stemmed from the Firmware, something that is impossible to tell, until you do everything right, and it is still broken. Worse, there is no easy way to downgrade your Firmware once you have the new one. The normal way doesnt let you, because it realises what you are trying to load is an older version and will not allow it. You need to brick the router and recover with the cd, and this can easily ruin the router for good.

In Closing... This is a great router, IF YOU DO NOT UPDATE!

Comments about Netgear® N150 Wireless Router:

Our Netgear N150 has proven itself to be a highly reliable member of our home network. In fact, it is the brains behind all of the traffic that flows in and out of our house. From an iTunes server on a NAS box, Linux laptops, media streaming, Call of Duty on PC/XBox, to the Wii, this little router has handled everything that we have thrown at it. As of this writing, our router has as many as 10 fulltime wireless devices and 4 wired devices connected to it daily. Many days the wireless count can climb to 20+.

Many reviewers describe reliability and speed as less than par. However, I would bet when you look into their homes you will find cordless phones, microwaves, neighboring Wi-Fi cross channel interference and other non-friendly wireless devices are to blame. I will say that you should rarely rely on the software or the wizards when setting up equipment like this. The software is usually cumbersome and doesn't truly live up to its promises. Trust me, when properly setup, this little router can be the hard working brains behind your network as well.

This router was so easy to set up. Pulled it out of the box, plugged it in and inserted the CD. Less than 10 minutes later I had wireless service. It is small enough to fit just about anywhere. So far it has been a perfect fit for us.

Comments about Netgear® N150 Wireless Router:

I have only one complaint, which is that the Mac setup wizard absolutely refused to recognize the fact that my Mac was connected via Ethernet to this router. After unplugging and re-plugging and swapping cables, I was enormously frustrated! But then I realized my Mac and cable modem were talking to the router just fine, and that I had an Internet connection anyway, so the setup wizard was just plain wrong.

Fortunately, instructions are included for netbook users whose computers don't have CD ROM drives and who therefore can't run the setup wizard from the included CD. Using those instructions, I was able to easily and quickly name my wireless network and protect it with a password, so I'm happy now.

Compared to the router this one replaced, I really like the fact that it has large, easy-to-read, numbered lights on the front, which remove any confusion as to which port you've got a cable plugged into. For example, if port number two is in use, you see a big, glowing "2" on the front of the router.
