Comments about RadioShack® Digital AM/FM Pocket Radio: Due to poor reviews I debated for months before buying this radio. I took a chance because it was the only digital radio I could find with both a built-in antenna and a speaker. My big concern was using three batteries. Why the odd number? I save money by using NiMH rechargeable batteries, and most chargers only charge batteries in pairs. I got around that by buying extra triple A's and always keeping more than three charged and ready. I use 1000 mAh triple A's and they last longer than the Radio Shack brand, which have shockingly low mAh ratings for the price! About the radio:

Comments about RadioShack® Digital AM/FM Pocket Radio: This thing seems sturdy, like transistor radios of yesteryear, but it's just not good enough to justify the price. For a few dollars more the mini Grundig radio supersedes this in every way - thinner, digital clock, dc power option, and most importantly, better reception.

Pros Cons Best Uses Comments about RadioShack® Digital AM/FM Pocket Radio: hmm...I have close to 20 hours on this set of ni-mh batteries...still going. I've never really understood presets on a battery only radio but this one is good...awesome am tuner

Comments about RadioShack® Digital AM/FM Pocket Radio: Dialing stations is annoying. If I don't lock them, I hit the dial with my hands and lose the station. If I lock them, I have to go through the extra step of pushing the unlock button to switch stations and lock it again. Every time I change batteries I have to program my station selections again. They aren't saved. I have an analogue radio that has a very long battery life with 2 AA batteries. The 3 AAA batteries don't last any time, so there is additional expense for batteries. Pros

Comments about RadioShack® Digital AM/FM Pocket Radio: I like the digital lockin on frequency. I have used a standard radio shack cheap AM/FM for hunting. The stations would drift. This radio appeared to be a perfect solution, but the battery life is very short--10 hours or less. My previous radio operated for 150+ hours. I agree that Radio Shack should make this type of radio, but increase the battery life. Maybe go to AA batteries. The lock feature is good, but it may draw battery power when used.

Comments about RadioShack® Digital AM/FM Pocket Radio: Overall a great Product, But in the UK and Europe the tuner was useless ending in ODD numbers. I could not dial in even 1 radio station ! PURE STATIC !!! No news, weather or music. Buy yourself a radio with an old-fashioned tuner.

Comments about RadioShack® Digital AM/FM Pocket Radio: Having a pocket radio just became the coolest thing I could own. Having a power outage and experiencing the devastation of Hurricane Sandy, this radio has brought me much joy. Remember to stock up on triple AAA batteries. A perfect gift. I will keep it by my side at all times.
