Didnt take long to figure out the reflector need collimation, or how to stiffen the tripod. I think if I were taking an astronomy course I would ask the instructor for help!! If ya cant make it work find someone to help you!! Dont know what all the fuss is about -- TASCO has GOOD PRODUCTS --- !!!!!!!!!

I never used one, but took 2 classes in Astronomy, and the Diameter WIDTH of the lens is everything. Basically I would get an 8 inch or better, maybe prefer a 12 or 16 inch, and 4.5 inch is as small as I would suggest, for [$] thats a good deal, but its a toy. while a 2.5 inch or 2 inch lens is total trash for a telescope it may look good standing in the corner, but not effective except for viewing a bit of the moon. Take a class in Astronomy Lab and go to their Star Party contact your local 2 year college
