Comments about RadioShack® Amplified HDTV Antenna:

As with all Rabbit ears. You have to constantly move them around to receive the beast possible reception. This should be no surprise to anyone who has used rabbit ears before. Once you have established a good position the reception is quite good. If you are not willing to keep adjusting the position of the antenna. Don't bother purchasing this item.. all-in-all. It works well.

Signal too weak in my location

    By apta

Comments about RadioShack® Amplified HDTV Antenna:

Before buying any antenna, check your location's TV reception strength map at http://www.tvfool.com/

It was accurate in that it confirmed that I'm in a fringe area. I bought the antenna thinking that perhaps I could place higher to get better reception (a slight knoll weakens the signal) but only managed to get a couple of faraway Mexican stations. I returned the antenna to the nearest Radio Shack and got a full refund.

Comments about RadioShack® Amplified HDTV Antenna:

              I am in Manhattan UWS.

This uses a cable and power cord, and did not work for me unless the power was turned on. That might be ok if the power seemed to help, but with the power on, this works the same, or less well than the cheaper triangular atnenna RS sells, which uses no separate power cord. If this one is turned off, it doesn't work at all for me.

Why pay more, plus deal with the extra cord, plus need to remember to turn this on and off, when it works no better than a model without a power cord. Maybe even slightly worse.

I had the triangular one already and thought this would work better. It doesn't.

              Returning it.

Comments about RadioShack® Amplified HDTV Antenna:

I bought this as a gift for my son who lives in a poor reception area. This antenna did not work any better or worse than the one he had. I ordered the antenna on line and chose Radio Shack because there is one where he lives. When he went to return the antenna the store would not take it. They told him he had to return it to the online store. Had I known Radio Shack would not let him return the antenna I never would have ordered from Radio Shack. Next time I will order from a store that lets you return online purchases to a nearby store.

Comments about RadioShack® Amplified HDTV Antenna:

Although antennaweb.com says I have 19 channels in my area, I pick up 16. Two are in the 'blue' category and the local religious broadcasts at low power. I also get ch 57, one which is not on the list. HD is well, HD. All towers are less than 20 miles. I will say I moved the antenna to a higher position in the room, which brought in the two NBC channels - one in HD. I expect the better idea is to take advantage of our coax in the wall, through the attic to wire up the antenna in the attic. So far, so good. No compaints. I don't give anything a 5, probably because I had to move the antenna and turn the gain. BTW, use a compass to determine your best direction to the towers.

For the range I need, this was weak. It would be best for in room near or with 20 mile range of broadcast towers. It improved slightly when I put it ontop of my internet modem. I wouldn't reccomend this product. I will be returning mine. Double check the broadcast strengths/distance you need before purchasing an antenna.
