I purchased this antenna and also the "budget" antenna to see which would work better. This one picked up 4 channels while the "budget" antenna ($14.99) picked up 13 (for less than half the price). One of my TVs lets me see "signal strength" as I move it to different positions. This one didn't even register so maybe it's a defective product. This is going back.

I reviewed this antenna back in February and thought an update would be helpful to other customers. My first converter box (Coby DTV102) stopped working (sound is fine; picture is gone) after 2 months. Based on good reviews, I bought a Zinwell ZAT-970A converter box to replace it.

With both this antenna and another one (an RCA flat antenna), the reception is much better with the new converter box. Whereas I couldn't get both VHF stations without adjusting the rabbit ears when I was using the old converter box, now I can. The flat antenna would virtually never pick up one of the VHF stations, and now it will most of the time. UHF stations are always easy to pick up.

So my recommendation is to spend some time looking for a converter box that has good recommendations. Although the antenna quality makes a difference, I suspect the quality of the converter box is much more important. This Radio Shack antenna is working great for me, especially with a good converter box.

This product is awesome. I love this product it gets good signal when the amphier is on and sometimes you have to move the 180 angle loop to get a good picture on some channels to get a clear picture. And I hardly have to move the 180 angle because I already get a clear screen. I recommend you to get this indoor antenna.

This thing claims to get out up to 40 miles but it doesn't even get out 20. I simply needed it to pick up a neighboring towns broadcast and it can't I helped with the local station signal strength but that was about it. DON'T BUY THIS PRODUCT IT IS NOT WORTH THE MONEY.

First I want to thank those who rated this product honestly and favorably. I had purchased an antenna twice the price and it had no effect on my new HD Smart TV. After reading these reviews, I decided to try this but anticipating having to return it. I am ever so pleased. Signals are hard to determine as we all live in different areas. I got more channels than I could believe. I do not have cable and thought I'd be forced to get it. Thank you Radio Shack!

I had bought a flat/amplified antenna, but had no luck getting it to work with the 2 VHF stations in the area. UHF was fine.

Bought this one, and initially had the same problems. However, after moving it a few feet in front of the tv and doing a lot of adjusting with the rabbit ears, I was able to get the VHF channels. Went back and tried the flat antenna again; had some better luck, but the rabbit ears are easier to adjust.

All the broadcast towers are about 30 miles away from me. I'm finding that I still need to fiddle with the rabbit ears from time to time, but I'm very happy with this antenna.

I gave it 1 star because it would not let me give it 0. I followed the instructions to the T. Not only did I not get any channels, it didn't even flicker once. I am 19 miles from all transmitters. According the the specifications, I should be able to get everything without amplification. Nothing

In my area we have terrible signal strength. What I could get in before with my old antenna and amp was choppy and poor. This antenna however added 2 more channels to my list as well as improved reception. I hardly have to adjust it now. Worth the money.
